My 95 just started running at a rough idle, slight pinging and whining or whistling sound. Also emits med grey smoke on initial start up and for about 2 miles. Is it fuel pump, vacuum leak or fuel pump. anyone?

Not to scare you, but do you know about the V8 engine issues?
Read here if you don't (http://www.koalamotorsport.com/article-m60v8.asp)
Since you mention a whistling sound I would guess you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Get a can of carb cleaner and gently spray it around the vacuum lines and intake. If the engine speeds up at any time then there is a vacuum leak there that is sucking in the carb cleaner.
hopefully that's all that is wrong, but vacuum leaks don't usually cause smoke :(

vaccuum leak affecting fuel pressure regulator. Any MAF car will act terribly when its got a vaccuum leak though, so its hard to say

Exactly! Unfortunately, your car is past the warranty period, but if you have been taking your car to the dealer religiously, they might help you with this.

My mechanic diagnosed the problem, I hope- Faulty oil seperator, torn seal creating smoke and vacuum problems.
