Thanks Jakey. I am now well known for this :)
Actually, you need nothing. If you are looking at cheap, go to Auto Zone, get the cheap calipers and cheap pads. It makes a big difference. They bolt on correctly. I tried to help 1995Red318i do his and the calipers were wrong. Look on realOEM.com and match the part numbers. This is now true for the rear ones as well. Do your fronts first though.
Good luck with it. Also, paint your calipers (Even if only silver) they will not rust if you do.
PM me is you have any questions

In addition to what Steve just said, there's a wealth of information available if you search on the terms "e46 brakes" or "330 brakes." :)
The procedure is very much like changing your brake pads and rotors, with the added steps of changing out the calipers and bleeding the brakes afterwards. Check Steve's thread for the specifics of installing 330 rear calipers.

do a search for cheap bbk - I'm sorry I won't put the spoon in your mouth but it was a long thread that discussed the specifics. You need calipers and carriers for the front, and the rears can be done a couple ways, 328 carriers (E46) will work with stock calipers because the E46 and E36 328's had the sma ethickness rotor, just a different diameter. As for where to get rotos I dunno.

im really only worried about the fronts.but the reason why im stressing the thread is becouse most of the info i found was on the rears and the fronts was just small talk. no one ever cut to the chase and stated the exact parts need and install.

I did the swap...direct bolt on, very simple
Here's what you need for the front:
e46 330 carriers (x2)
e46 330 calibers (x2)
e46 330 pads or e36 m3 pads (either will work) <---i have OEM with 7k for sale!!
e46 330 rotors (x2) <-----i have OEM with only 7k for sale!!!!
e36 (whatever your model is) brake lines (if you want to change them)
e46 330 anitrattle clips
thats all you need.
happy now? :stickoutt

How's the brake feel? I've heard of people using an M3 master cylinder with this setup - I think this is part of the confusion with the conversion

a few people are using the m3 mastercylinder....i think it's over kill...i'm using stock 325 master and i think it feels fine. Yes there is a little more pedal travel (like 1/2 inch) but your get used to it after 5 min of driving. I can't be 100% on performance of the setup because my stock setup was more or less metal on metel...so anything felt better then what i had. i also installed UUC ss lines, which makes a difference as well.
As far as cross drilled rotors....don't get them, they WILL CRACK and WARP on the street (ask me how i know) I went with powerslot slotted rotor. weither it made any difference is a matter of opinion, but i personally like the look better, and they were a good price to boot!
got any question shoot me a PM..
