The blower-motor apparently works because I get airflow ( albeit limited - cabin filter replacement should fix that ) but the A/C ( Freeze ) button as well as the the rear defroster button do not come on when pressed ( the little lights do not illuminate ) The temperature of the air being blown out is always relatively the same as the ambient temperature outside, no matter what position the temp dial is set to.

I seem to have misplaced my Bentley manual and I haven't come up with much from searching. I figured that something electrical has to be involved because the light on the 'freeze' button does not illuminate. I checked all the fuses but none seem to be blown. Although, in some posts I saw that it might be a relay. How can you tell if a relay has gone bad?

Just looking for a starting point to see what is at the bottom of this problem.

Thanks!

Ryan

Well I found out what the problem was, on another forum.
Apparently it's the "Analog" version of the common Digital Climate Control failure.

Apparently, the Climate Control Module which is right below the cigarette lighter panel, can fail and when that happens your buttons don't function anymore.

I gotta dig it out to find the part number so I can order a replacement. Although I was thinking that perhaps when my guibo failed and I kept driving the car around, that the vibrations it caused might have jarred loose a connection or two, and that just by securing all the connections, it will start to function again.

Anyway, if this happens to anyone, this is the reason.

You can order a used one from www.bmrparts.com
