just drove an m3

so my friend just got an e36 m3. i drove it. it was well, how can i say this. . .AMAZING. seriously the best engine ive felt in my life. my brother has a 540i6 and that m3 pulled just as hard. amazing, simply amazing....bmw did it. so i have a 97 328is with 58k miles, and i could most likely sell it and get an m3 with higher mileage and prolly a less nice looking body, bc mine was very well taken care of, so its either ill do that or just put soem things on my 328 to satify my power cravings. i consider this bc i hear if u get a chip(dinan or shark) and an m50 manifold and with a little tuning itll put down around 30hp to teh wheels and it will cost around 1000 in all. what shall i do. i kinda want the dinan chip bc i hear its great.. help with ideas!

See, you shouldn't have driven it. You would have saved yourself thousands of dollars ;)

I made that mistake with a 2002 E46 M3 Vert. in Imola.
I am buying one in a few months so help me god.

I wasn't that impressed with the E36 M3... I've driven a couple modded ones, and was less than impressed with the power.

Now as soon as I find one with a blown motor that my brother and I can build into our track car, I'll be impressed... our motor (from his 99 M3) is far far from stock, and should blow the doors off a stocker M3.

you will not be able to duplicate the fat powerband of the 3.0 to 3.2 liter engine with a 2.8. You can make the 2.8 just as fast with bolt ons, but getting the low rpm grunt of a bigger engine won't happen easily.

i drive an E21 and i made a similiar mistake, except it wasnt an M3. one of my best friends drives an E39 M5 and you have no idea what its like to drive an M5 50 miles and then have to drive back home in an E21 :( .

dont forget toying with people on the freeway when they think there tough guys. or when someone tries to cut you off and they suddenly find themselves behind your car. :D but ive never done that.

Too late... my uncle has an E46 M3 and I almost creamed my pants the whole time I drove it. I want one so bad. Luckily, my car can't even begin to compete with it, so I don't have to worry about spending a ton of money just trying to get it to that level.
