I have a silver 1998 328i with 15 inch stock wheels. I have been thinking of getting some 2002-2005 oem 17 inch wheels for my 98 but have not seen any examples of this yet. Do any of you have any pics or know of any examples of a 98 with newer oem wheels?

Thanks!

E46 330 sport wheels are a popular retrofit.

My friend has this style on his e36 coupe, in 18". It's a replica of the e46 M3 oem wheel. Personally I like them better on BMWs than any other style I've seen.

I cannot think of ANY BMW OEM wheel design that looks good.. especially the new ones! When you have high quality names like HRE, SSR, BBS, ACS, Fikse to choose from ... i really don't see the point of ditching one stock set for another. Save your money, and pick up something nice from eBay or even here in the forums.

except the OE wheels are generally pretty cheap, because most of them are ugly.

The E46 M3 wheels posted above are some of the best looking stock wheels on anything on the road right now, right behind the competition package and CSL wheels which are... well, sexy.

Disclaimer: I just got M Doublespoke wheels, so maybe I'm biased! :stickoutt

Going from a 15" wheel to a fairly lightweight 17" wheel will improve handling. A stock BMW wheel is OK in terms of weight and you still get the benefit of going to a larger wheel diameter. Stock wheels are usually very affordable if you pick them up used.

All of the mentioned wheels (BBS, ACS, Fikse) are very expensive. Sometimes you can score a good deal on them. Fikses are super rare and you'd be lucky to get them less than $2000 for the wheels and tires. You might be able to get cast aluminum BBSs for a good price, or sometimes you can get some forged BBSs for around $1200-1500.

But, these prices are still higher than a used set of OE wheels and tires (usually around $600 to $800, sometimes people sell the wheels w/ tires). With the extra money, you could get some Koni SAs. :D

I bought a set of the double-spoke sport wheels, type 30. They were super inexpensive and really helped make it look better. Granted, they are only 16's, but I got the new Kumho ASX tires, mounted and balanced for under 5 bills. Hey, for a poor man, it works for me.

Thanks guys! Sometimes I think simple is cool. I have always liked the wheels that joefoo posted but have yet to see it on a 98 e36. Much less a 4 door. Shoot I even like the newer stock 17's that are coming on the 2002-2005 3 series today. If any of you have any pics of these on a e36 that would be very helpful.

Thanks guys! :help

these are oem :)

Are they OEM or OE?

OEM being Original Equipment Manufacturer, OE being actual Original Equipment (ie: they actually came on a BMW, rather than were made by a manufacturer who also makes BMW parts)
