How do you access the radio code when the radio is still working?

Hey all,

I was just about to do a little ipod install on my car, and I need to remove the radio. However, I'm not an idiot, and I know I'm going to need the code to put the radio back in. I have seen before somewhere a procedure for getting the code before you remove the stereo by playing with the m button somehow, but can't find it. Anyone no toe procedure?

I have the unit with a tape deck that will control the stock BMW Alpine 6 disk changer. I think its like C33 or something...

i think you can get the codes from the dealership somehow. you'll prolly have to give them your vin number or something and they can look it up.

Yeah I can get the code when it goes in Wed. for service. They're usually pretty good about that kinda stuff.

I got some numbers... but they don't appear to be a 5 digit code...
