So I get in my car this morning and the lights to the mileage are out (57xxx). Everything else works fine (service inspection, etc....). Is this fixable or is it a situation where I need to replace the entire cluster? It just doesn't seem like one blub that went out....but maybe it is.

Thanks

I was wondering the same thing.. Is it just a bulb behind the odometer? you cant see anything with the lights off but when you turn the lights on you can see the first couple numbers... Is this the same thing you have wrong?

Exact same problem. Just doesn't seem like a single bulb issue...but maybe it is.

it could very well be a bulb issue. Whe you remove the panel, there are three large lamps that provide back lighting for the panel for night driving. There are also a number of smaller lamps that provide illumination for the "Idiot Lights" and other functions. It wouldn't surprise me if one of those smaller lamps was for the odometer.

is this an easy "take the old bulb out/ pop the new one in"? or is there soldering involved?

any ideas on part numbers for this bulb?

its easy to pop out the bulb. You just take the cluster out. I have an issue where the left side is dim when the lights are on. I thought it was a bulb but its the actual display peeling from the back :(

any idea which one of these bulbs I need?

03 BULB 12V 3W 07119978372 $0.94
03 BULB 12V 1,5W 62111391260 $1.62
03 BULB 12V 1,2W 62131383311 $1.53

this is what I found in the etk....but I would rather know which if the correct one before I start putting the wrong wattage bulbs in the back.

Thanks

I believe this is the part number. I got it off the www.bimmerzone.com web site.

You might want to check with them first though.

Fixxed mine last night and it wasnt too bad but i have to say plugging in the harnesses was a little bit of a pain.. It was also a good time for me to remove the traction control bulb too.

For the one who posted above regarding the left side being dimmer than the right, is there an easy fix for that.

do you remember which bulb it actually is of the part numbers I posted. I ended up ordering all 3 but it would be nice to know ahead of time what I'm doing. I wil probably just replace them all anyways (just 3 right?).

thanks

Just get all 3 kinds and im sure you will eventually need them... I just went to the dealer and got the larger bulbs for the background lighting and everything works great...
