Have a new symptom. My car seems to be emitting this constant whistling sound during idle. Does it with or with out HVAC on. Anyone else have a whistling 740? If so what is the cause?

Can't remember the name of the part exactly, but equivalent to PCV valve. Pull the oil dip stick while the car is running and see of that cures the whistle, if so, this part needs replaced. 'oil/air separator valve' or something like that.

Are you the guy sending me emails about a 'meet' in your area? I missed last fall, but would like to get together sometime soon. LMK

ICV? I'll give that a whirl, thank you. The guy sending those emails is from the Cleveland area. I'm from just south of Akron. They are planning on meeting the weekend of the 4th. I think I will be in Chicago that weekend. Maybe we can meet for a beer or a burger when I roll down your way for the Memorial Tournament in Dublin. I'll let ya know what happens with the whistling. Do you know where that piece is located? Can it be cleaned or just replaced?

Has to be replaced, and it is a bitch to get to. $25 part w/ $200 in labor. If you are handy, it's not too tough to do. Have to take the top of the engine off to some extent. Not sure exactly. See if the whisatle goes away with pulling the oil dipstick

Yeah, let me know on the Memorial. I am sure I will be out there at least a couple days myself. I live on the North end. If you can make it, I belong to a club nearby, we could get in a few holes...

I've heard about this. Hmmm. Always something. Anyway, i'd love to! I play 2-3 times a week as it is and am a giant golf fan. I grew up there in Murfield, Finlarig Dr., off of Glick. Graduated from Dublin and went to OSU so I am quite familiar with the area. Cant wait to get some Iaconos! Where do you play?

Yes, that 'breeding' thing. I play at Dornoch. It's a classic Donald Ross (1933) front nine, with a new Zoeller/Hurzdan back nine. It's over on Rt 23 near the observatory

Ok, it was a while ago and I may be wrong. Just trying to make a point...(relatively) cheap part, vs. big labor. :conf
