Hi there, I'm new to the forums. What do you all think about this ride? Should I worry about anything major in the next 50-60k miles (up to 140-150k mi). Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jason

I'm considering purchasing this 1997 BMW M3 Coupe:

89k miles
1 owner

Cleared Corners
Prem HK Sound
Changer
Lux. Package (wood)
Manual Trans
Spoiler
Moonroof
Leather

The Good:

Really glossy paint
All service records
New tires
New brakes
New clutch
Runs smooth
All electronics work

The Bad:

Slight vibration felt through steering wheel at 70+mph (maybe tires need balancing?)
Small ships on front apron from highway rocks
Stereo light is very dim
Very slight leather wear
Parking brake handle, the wood looks a little marbled (cracked)

Better advice than you could recieve on this board from describing your ride will be had by taking your prospective vehicle to a local BMW shop who can give it a quick work up -- usually around $150-$200, depending. Now...if you don't get the car then you might think it a waste -- but it's definatly not. (1) You know what you're getting yourself into and, (2) you have a professional opinion on the condition of your car at purchase.

Hey...good luck with your hunting and here's hoping for a successful purchase!

Agreed.

The good:
1. One owner
2. No mods

The bad:
1. Things that you don't see.

Get it checked out. Parts on these cars are pricey.

Good luck.

That shitty wood always cracks. Replace it with the standard black plastic.

How long do these cars last?

Is it COMMON to need MAJOR repairs before 150k miles?

Before 200k miles?

Major is $1000-3000 to me
