I wonder what the ratios of the z4 are compared to the euro 6.

For all practical purposes, the ratios are identical.

One difference between these is the types of flywheels you can use. AFAIK, you can't use a UUC M5 clutch/fly pkg w/the Z4 tranny. Maybe someone else can expand on this.

How much do they sell for?

The euro tranny bolts up and uses the same clutch as the stock E36 M3/ UUC Stg 2 setup works too. The Zionville kit is a E46/Z4 tranny and is not as HD a piece as the euro tranny, Zionville kit lists for like 4k but comes with EVERYTHING you need to do it including the new flywheel and clutch. Driveshaft, linkage bolts nuts, you nam the kit has it.

If you blow the euro tranny you will have to find another one $$$$ and no one can rebuild the euro tranny that I know of. The Zionville kit uses US spec tranny from any E46/Z4 with a six speed. It is the same six speed that is in the 330 ZHP, same ratio's. The euro six sped has the same ratios as the US 5 speed plus a slight overdrive 6th gear.

Been there looked at doing the swap...Still not sure if one gear is worth 3-4k...

I think I may need a new tranny because my is getting notchy and hard to shift from 1-2 and sometimes 2-3. 6 spd would be a nice upgrade especially since im thinking of a turbo.

Im thinking of getting a Euro 6speed tranny since in going to install a TT kit next month. Bimmerworld.com has some for sale. I rather get a REAL Euro speed tranny VS the Zionville tranny. :confused

I want to do a Diff.(diffsonline.com) and a Euro 6 speed mod real soon :redspot

Most of the guys with turbo's don't run the six speed. They tend to put taller gears in the car as instead of shorter, shorter works good if you stay NA.
A 5 speed car with a 2.79 or a 2.93 really doesn't need a six speed...Not to mention the price if you blow the tranny....

The Euro 6 is a big box with a lot of beefy bearings and internals. The Z4 6 speed is a much smaller, lighter unit. I have a few FI guys on the Euro, even with the low diffs because they can handle the power - a 5 speeds ZF gets chewed up nicely from the guys that really use/abuse their gear in the 500Hp ballpark. The Z4 trans is lighter though, may work well if you are easy on transmissions and you wwant the weight savings.

A Euro kit uses all the US parts so not that much needs to be included - trans, shifter, crossmember, and driveshaft only.

the euro 6 speed is the getrag b0x right?

i always thought the getrag had a much better shifting action compared to the zf. in both my 325 tranny and my buddies euro 6 speed, the action is much more precise.

I run the 6 speed with my turbo setup and a 2.93 differential. I need the 6th gear. The ZF 5 speed is sloppy and unreliable when compared to the euro Getrag 6 speed. I'd be impressed if you blew the 6 speed as it can handle more power than the Getrag unit used in the Toyota Supra.
