has anyone done a grounding kit to there car? it improves torque, hp, gas milage and makes all the electronics work better? it replaces all the stock ground wires with 4 gauge wire? has anyone done this to thier car and has felt an improvement? it is suppost to gain 10hp to the wheels of an E36 M3. which i dont believe.

A G35 guy asked me about one of those a couple weeks ago. I got a good laugh out of that.

The ground strap from the engine block to the chassis is already about a 4 ga wire (metric equivalent). I think the only improvement you'll see is that your wallet will be lighter, thereby reducing the vehicle's mass. A bad engine ground will cause pitting between the aluminum cylinder head and iron block, but won't reduce HP unless it's so bad the alternator (which is grounded to the engine) no longer has enough continuity to charge the system.

i wouldn't have normally answered this but.......

There are no gains to be made. BUT, if you are running a lot of voltage out of your car for electronics, audio systems, T.V.'s etc, it may be a good idea.

JUST MAKE YOUR OWN. Buy your own wire, crimps, and solder the joints together.

So simple. So cheap.

That is, if you really need it.

Get these from NASA:

(halfway through the "Oetiker hose clamp" secion)

I'd say 10HP is a misunderestimation. Its more like 12-13.

Someone from a Nissan board chimed in once and said these help certain Nissans out quite a bit. Others said they do nothing for a BMW. Remember the whine old stereo systems used to make unless grounded properly? With the amount of diagnostic electronics on our cars, a good ground could do nothing but improve things I would think.
