Hey guys, I picked up this peake tool to try and reset my airbag light. Peake says they have never used it on a mini, and its only listed for bmw's up to 2003. But i'm trying it anyway and the only problem i have right now is I don't have a list of all the codes so I can't decipher what it's trying to tell me.
Does anyone have a list of the codes?
Or better yet, has anyone else even tried this with the MINI???
I tried the peake website but they don't list the codes.
Thanks!

What code are you seeing?

I think it said the code was "60"
And then when i tried to clear it (if i did it right) I got an "E".
Basically my airbag light came on when i disconnected the airbags. I disconnected the battery, but maybe i didn't wait long enough. Anyway, the airbags were plugged back in but the light is still on and I want to turn it off. That's what I'm trying to do. :)

If that's all Peake told you, it strikes me as a little odd. They actually make a specific code reader/reset tool for MINIs. It's the R5/EMX model, and comes with a list of the codes.
Also, "60" isn't a MINI code. At least, not by itself. MINIs store error codes in 5-digit combinations. To read a code, it'll first flash the letter (usually a P), then the first two numbers, then the last two numbers. So "P1234" Will read "P," "12," "34."
I'd suggest getting the proper reader, then giving it another shot.
Good luck,

Well, the problem is that it is the airbag light that i need to turn off. Not read all the other codes. Does peake make a tool that does this for MINI?
Thanks!

The R5/SRS should work fine. The R5/EMX will definitely not work for the airbag light. Unfortunately the airbag code is a hard code that cannot be reset with the ol' battery disconnect trick.
Wasn't able to find code 60 in our documentation here.

I'm still working on this....
I even stopped by a local beamer shop and they couldn't get their scan tools to work.
But to clarify the code I'm getting..... First a "10" pops up which Peake says is the chart# to refer to. Then a "60" pops up which Peake says is the code on chart 10. Does that make any sense?
But then if I try to clear the code, it flashes an "E" which I am assuming means there is some sort of error.
Anyway, the whole reason for all this is I put new Sparco seats in my MINI. With the car off, no key in the ignition, I unplugged the airbag seat connections, removed the old seats, installed the new ones, plugged a 2watt 3.3 ohm resistor into the airbag connections, then reconnected the battery. The airbag light came on right away. Totally forgot to unplug the battery! I went to the MINI dealer and they wouldn't touch it with the seats installed for liability reasons. So i had to go home, put the stock seats back in, and head back to the dealer so they could charge me 50 bucks to turn the light off. 20 minutes later i was on my way home with no light. Then i did the same thing as before putting the new seats back in, but this time I disconnected the neutral side of the battery (which does shut everything down and resets my clock and tripometer). And the light is back on anyway. So now i don't know if I didn't wait long enough after disconnecting the battery, or if the resistors are wrong, or what. Other people have been using the same exact resistors with success. Maybe that flashing "E" on the peake means that it can't clear the code because whatever is causing it is still present? Ugh.
The only good thing is that the airbag light is dead center above the speedo so at least its symmetrical. :rolleyes
