sorry to hijack your thread but I have a stupid question - how do you adjust an mbc to run for the first time? trial and error?

Not hijacking at all. Just open up the screw on top a few turns and let her rip. See where and how fast the boost goes. I got to a "sweet spot" that got me 2-3 psi in a quarter turn. So it took 7 turns to get from the wastegate spring(4psi), to 6psi, but a quarter turn to go from 6-8psi.
Lot of popping the hood, getting out, and running through 2nd-3rd gear.
