Hey guys, im looking for a less expensive s/c kit for a 328is but im not quite sure what to go with. I would rather have an intercooler, but not sure if it is neccessary. Should it be neccessary to have an intercooler, i found a ERT system for a pretty good price i think, but im not sure how reliable they are. It has a Powerdyne supercharger and i have heard that they need to be rebuilt and arent reliable. Any opinions on what kits to go with, i like the AA but it is expensive. Thanks. ~Rich Montoni

someone I know built a kit from scratch using an FPR for his 328is. He sold his car and sold the s/c seperately to another 328i owner so I believe it's still running around.
look up the name Richp on this forum and shoot him a message for more details.

FPR = fuel pressure regulator
he installed a rising rate FPR that raised fuel pressure as the revs increased. he dialed it in properly and that was it, no software etc. could it run better with custom software? I'm sure it could be he did his on the cheap and the results were great.

Superchargers don't KILL torque, they ADD torque. They just don't add as MUCH as a turbo at the same boost levels.
I'm making a hair under 300 ft/lbs at peak with my 10 PSI setup, a turbo will make 25-50 ft/lbs more than that at 8 PSI, and (generally) have a flatter torque curve. Torque is great, torque is awesome, but too much torque ends up being a problem, especially on our tire-limited E36's. Depends on what you want to do with the car. I prefer the CF SC for track and canyon use, where you are turning the steering wheel from time to time, it's easier to drive.
