Before I go to the trouble, does anyone here know what is BMW NA Policy on Loaner, Courtesy BMWs? You know it is always something! This past week my new e60 was at Nalley BMW in Decatur GA having 1st year service work performed plus I purchased some new rims to have installed. They let me use a courtesy 2004 BMW 330i with 10,000 miles, which was nice, but on the way home, I had a flat tire that the side wall blew out...Today when I went back to turn my courtesy in they presented my with a bill for: $182.61 for a brand new tire, plus their labor charge of $35.00, valve 1.63, deposer fee of 4.00 total 223.24,, (CLICK ON BELOW), and the Nalley BMW employee (Cheryl) handling the case, said sir don't worry I rip you off! (Yea Right!)

Question forum: Do you feel this is fair what they did to me, making me pay for a new tire, even though theirs had 10,000 miles on it? We are all here BMW owners and their customers, and remember if they did it to me they can do it to you also, because now a precedent has now been established, and good news about a new way for BMW dealer to make an extra buck or two travels fast to other BMW dealers in other states, and good BMW money making news I bet travels fast from: east to west!

Also the did get me assist fixed but now my factory 6 disc cd player will not work. It was working great when I took it in last week, but now it will not give me a cd position menu on my iDrive

Well I am out some money and time, and I hope what happened to me does not happen to you.

Sincerely,

R. Eddie Presley = PTC GA

Status update on Nalley BMW Refund on a 04 330i loaner flat tire to E60 owner...

Dear BMW Forum members:

On Mon 4-25-05 @ 11:58hrs, This post is about the outcome of me paying new tire fees and labor, for a flat tire on a 10,000 mile loaner BMW 330i.

I received a phone call from Mr. Clay Nalley the owner of Nalley BMW himself, shared with me how he had just read my letter I sent last Friday, and how he apologizes for any inconvenience it might had caused me and is sending me a refund of $223.24 today.

In conclusion: With Mr. Nalley doing this, restored what faith I had lost in Nalley BMW, and it still by my personal experience Nalley BMW is still the #1 growing BMW dealer here in the Atlanta GA area in my book, and at this time, my family and I will continue doing all our auto business with Nalley BMW. (formally aka Chris Imports BMW)

Sincerely,

R. Eddie Presley

don't know about policy

IMO should the tire be nailed it's right to charge you for replacement but prorated (something like -25% in this case). should you be driving your car the route you had taken, you would have punctured your tire.

however, since the side wall blew, isn't it a faulty tire then? even if it is not, in that case it should be prorated also.

btw I would also demand that the base price (before prorating) was not a retail, but the wholesale. after all, you did not put it on your car, but their loaner.

my $0.02

sue them for giving you a car with defective tires....

Dealers get tires at a wholesale rate. They really made money on that deal if they charger you full price plus got a warranty claim on the tire. I know when I worked at the local Ford/Chrysler(ya I know booooo!! ;) ) deal we got tires at 20-25% off list prices on most and the cheaper line (off brands) even more.

If it was a side wall deal they may have even turned it in to the tire shop as a defective tire and got a partial refund(warranty claim). Most tire have a given warranty time frame.

I really don't know if you can do anything about it though? You had to sign the typical form that you would be held liable for all repairs/damage to the car. The only option is did you check with your insurance company, most don't cover tires but as a loaner car?????? Just a thought.

Good luck, boy aren't car dealers grand!!!

Ok my 2 cents.

Did you read the loaner agreement that they made you sign before you took the car? If so did it say anything about how this kind of thing is handled? In most cases like this I would think that it is your responsibility seeing as you were operating the vehicle when the tire blew. It is just like if you rented a car, do you think that the rental company should be responsible for a tire that blows while you are driving their car? Did you ask them if they could help you out with a discount? Did you purchase the car from them? All of those things are taken into consideration in a situation like this.

Yes I purchased two new cars from Nalley BMW last year, my new 04 530i and a new 04 Jaguar S type for my Dad and Mom, with extended 7yr/100,000mles warranty and such I spent $100,000.00 With the Nalley Auto group, and I just cannot believe they are going to let $224.00 stand between us, but that's life and there more BMW Jaguar dealers here in Atlanta that I suppose wants business.

I just hope what happened don't happen to any other BMW owners here in the US. but I notice BMW do listen to one another ways of making money.

I don't think you should have to pay for the tire at all and the same goes for a rental. Worst case scenario should be 50/50 but that is just my logical solution. I realize with the legal forms they can get you to sign you are on the hook. I once test drove a car and the rad started steaming on my drive. I didn't buy that car but I wasn't held responsible either. The used car dealer simply noted that somebody will be gettin a new rad. These things are not expected to happen if a car is in good order. I could understand if you crash it or something but not that.

BTW it was nice of you to buy your parents a Jag. :crazynoel

Good to know which dealers NOT to go to. Sorry you got screwed. I'd write to the head office - quote dates, times and the twits you spoke to.

Next time just go to a used tire shop and replace it for like 50.00. They wouldnt know the difference.

You should not have to pay for the cost of a brand new tire. It should have been prorated to the amount of tread the current tire had left.

It's no different than when you total a car. Does the insurance company give you the amount of money to buy a new one, or just what the market value is based on age and wear and tear?

Don't let them walk on you. It's not a whole lot of money, service gouging in this country is totally out of hand.

You can also try contacting BMW North America directly if the dealership doesn't work with you on this and complain to their customer service department.

Nalley sux, especially Cheryl Grimm there. I used to go to them religiously when they were Chris. Ever since Nalley took over they have been horrible. I now go to Global Imports and am MUCH happier.

Agreed. I personally know Jim Nalley, and he knows that the whole shebang went downhill after he left it to the vultures in charge now. Over the years, my family has bought around 30 new cars from the dealer. Never again.
