The dealer near me charged $100/hr to diagnose this problem with the sensor that detects if my key is in the ignition. It took them 2 hours to diagnose the problem too...so basically I'm paying them to be slow and stupid.

Is anyone else completely outraged by tactics like this? What do your dealers charge for diagnosis?

You have to understand that all you are is a dollar sign to them. They figure if you walk through their door you need them end are at their mercy and will charge you as much as they possibly can.

How long do you think it should take them to find out where a problem is?

They watch your facial expressions for clues that you can no longer be milked and then they find the problem. They probably know exactly what's wrong 2 minutes after you come in.

stealers have lied to my face b4... It really ruins my view of BMW Stealers. I told the BMW N/A as a result....if they even care

Last Summer I had to have the top motor replaced in my 95, 325IC, it cost about $1000.00 total. My top quit working just a week ago. Seems when I had my seats covered someone pulled the emergency top lever under the back seat. This set off a bunch of "top codes". I took it to Peake BMW, in New Orleans (the local stealer) I mentioned the top motor, and he cleared the error codes for free. He also advised me of a air bag fault for the passenger side bag, and said there were no faults for the engine nor transmission. I guess I'm still in shock. So, some dealers are, well lets say careful.

I am a member of the local BMW club, and took a drive with the new 3, in the Drive Across America promotion. If anyone has a chance take a look at the cars. They bring along some really great older models, fully restored to factory original. I'm not really impressed on how the new 3s look. They are only introducing the 4 door 330, and 325. Maybe the coupe, and convertible will look more like BMW, than Honda, or Toyota.

With their experience, their computer diagnostics, etc...it should have taken them at the most 30 minutes. Hell, I had an inkling myself.
