Blown Engine 95 318i

My neighbors kid blew the engine in thier 318i dont know much about BMW's I have a Porsche he told me he wanted to get rid of it. So my thoughts were to buy it if i could get a good used engine for cheap. The boy said he was cruising and kicked it to second the car is an automatic. BTW the connecting rod is sticking out the block out of a hole the size of a golf ball.

regarding the auto; the car wouldn't down shift if it wasn't safe for the motor. he's not telling you the truth.

I dont think a 318 engine is worth your time. Its worth no more then 1000-1500 in running condition. Probably 2k if you had it rebuilt.

I don't think that would be the question here. Of course the 318 motor isn't worth it. But if you can find a used 325 or M3 engine and get it installed .. it wouldn't be that bad of an investment.

Of course it depends on how much you pay for the chassis...

you can get an M42 in great running shape for $300-500 on ebay.

sold the M42 out of my car for $400. that car can be rebuilt for next to nothing.
