hey everyone, a couple months ago I bought a 99' Imola red e36 m3 coupe with modena interior. So far I think the car is amazing. I've driven almost every new "performance" car that is out on the market and still havent found anything that performs and drives like this car. I personally like the feeling better then an e46. But since I got it I've been to busy to really focus on it and the roads have been covered with salt. But now I have more time to have some fun with it and start doing some mods. I took out the sound deadning in the hood and it feels even more spirited. But heres some pics. If anyone has any information about imola red e36's please let me know. I know they made 50 gt2's but other then that I'm not sure. Hopefully some nice mods will come this spring and summer.

they only made 50 gt2's. All of them were in imola red with imola red interior over suede. If you search pervious posts for imola you can find some pics of them on here, really amazing looking cars.

Huh? Whats a GT2?
an obd2 version of the original m3 GT. you know, the green one with the green/cloth interior. has all the ltw/gt goodies. front splitter, rear wing, strut bar, oil pump, etc...
gt2 came in imola red, with red leather inserts in the seats. had the s50b32, versus the GT's s50b30
EDIT: and to the thread starter. you do NOT have a GT2. the GT2 was a european market car, very limited run. although you shared the same exterior color, and wheels. that is where the similarities stop

haha trust me I know. Man I wish it was a gt2. I was just curious on how many regular e36's were made in imola.

None were, thats why I assumed it was an Individual car. The only US e36's I have seen in that color are re-sprays...so you should look really hard for that sticker :D

peter - imola was actually an option on late model 99's.

You have a beatiful car. It's refreshing to see a stock looking car that is,
at the same time, so unique. I would not touch it or ruin it with aftermarket wheels, spoilers, etc.
I would get Euro lights though and that's it. Keep it stock on the outside.
You don't have to be different. You already are. And you're stock to boot...
If I was in the market for another E36 M3, I'd pay you a fortune for it... ;)

doesn't look as light as modena should be. but its not soo magma either, plus the rear of my magma seats are black, its a 4/99 build too

it actually is modena, the pics just dont look like it, I'll have better pics up for tom. I think some of the mods I want to do is intake, exhaust, lower it a little, clear rears, and maybe a short shift kit. Dinan chip already installed
About the short shift kit, does anyone out there have any experience out there with them. My dad has a euro M6 and he put one on and it now has a very notchy shift, is it the same way with the e36's?

Thats defintely Modena. The lack of light in the picture makes it look magma-ish.
Hottest color combo evAR. Your car is sex on wheels.

I was blown away when this thing showed up in my garage. I had no idea that they made E36's in Imola. After some research I found out that BMWNA had misinformation in their catalogs and never were informed about the color being an option in late '99. Only those who were enthusiasts or 'in the know' ordered these cars in this color. It's rare to find a Convertible with 5spd, but a Vert with 5spd Imola Red? :evil2 http://idisk.mac.com/artmpower/Public/Untitled-22.jpg http://idisk.mac.com/artmpower/Public/Untitled-9.jpg
**let me know if you guys can't see the pics**

It means you got one of the last NA-spec E36 M3's. Production stopped in April.
That's when mine was produced, one of the last off the Munich line. :D
As someone already noted, Imola Red was available for 99's, manu'd from 3/98 on. Not many of them, and still fewer with Modena. Great find!

The GT2 was not OBDII... OBD is strictly an American-market term for emissions-related diagnostics. The European market cars never had OBD.

D'OH! you are correct. i kinda forgot about that technicality
imola was actually available on late 98 models and 99 models. production started 3.98 and up which is the same time they started building them with the 3 spoke steering wheel. this is also the same time artic was phased out in favor of titanium.
