well, i think it is a bit crazy, but if it works, im willing to do it. I have heard of plenty of people doing it, but does it actually stay on and look decent for very long? I think im going to put a few thin clear coats on my side skirts after doing the gray removal and after wet-sanding them very lightly. But what about the plastic parts of the bumpers? if i sanded these down nice and good, would spray paint be worth while? or shoudl i spend the extra $200 and wate to get them professionally painted?

Spend the $200, the examples I have seen spraypainted you can defiantly tell they were spraypainted

Rattle can paint does not have "hardner" in it and will not be near as glossy as professional paint mixed with the hardner. This is called "Single Stage" paint.
The next step up is Two Stage Paint that includes a final "clear coat" and will be even more glossy.
The problem with the bumpers is you need to put on "Flexible Primer" before you lay down paint so it adheres correctly.
Rattle can paint just looks dull, does not adhere well, chips easy and is very soft.

Well, I did mine with a rattle can two stage basecoat/clearcoat from Automotivetouchup.com. I have had no problems with mine. The rep told me that their paint is pretty flexible as is. As far as glossy, after you lay the clear over it of about 4-5 coats, you can wet sand with 2000 like I did. I have told my friends that I did it with spray cans and they are blown away! I did use plastic adhesion primer, also from a rattle can (duplicolor). BUT.....I really don't think it ultimately saved me any money. Especially since each base/clear can combination cost close to $42 inc. shipping. So my paint was around $130. My advice is that if you can get it done for $200, go get it done!

well $200 was jsut a guestimate. i have no clue what it will actually cost, although i do know of a place in town that is cheap.
Im also considering painting the side skirts dark shiney black. is that kit from BMP black or just dark gray? if i paint them black, im not sure if i would paint the bumpers black also, or have them painted the body color, but i think that if they were black it may look better, but i dont know.
