Back in florida I would just dump everything in the dumpster. California seems to be full of rules though. Where can I dispose of some old parts and how about coolant, does pepboys take it? Thanks

Although I would do what Jimmy and Unesential said, you seem to be trying to be more responsible with your garbage than us 3.
Yes Pep Boys will take fluids. For a fee I believe though.
If it isn't a chemical though, I would just put in the garbage.

i think pep boys takes oil for free (in my city curb side recycling takes it), but for the anti freeze there may be a fee.
as for other non-toxic parts, i just throw that s**t in the garbage.

ebay
see if your local garbage will pick up certain liquids. If not, usually, most counties have some sort of drop off for any "toxic" substance... FREE. And they're usually open on Saturdays too, to accomodate the working folk.
As for parts.. if it's still usable.. any classified/forum... Craigslist is good if you have one for your area.
if all else fails... find a dumpster, and leave it there.

penzoil 10 min. oil change takes my oil for free. filter for a small charge. its funny, they always think i am comming in for a oil change.
Put in the tank with my home heating oil..... what used oil :confused
and how does that work out? does it really work? doesn't cause it to burn funny or anything?

i always thought you can throw oil filters in the garbage as long as they're in plastic bags that aren't leaking ??!?!
i take my used oil to jiffy lube and dump it for free. any reputable auto parts store will also take used oil, and so will any quick lube place.

Get a waste oil heater for your garage and collect everyone's oil. Nothin better than free heat.

IM not trying to be a tree hugger, but I recycle all automotive parts. I scrap the iron, aluminum, and recylce the fluids, its not hard, and throwing away material like brake rotors and pads, water pumps, etc, seems stupid
I also run the shop at school so we generate wuite a bit, but I recylce at home as well, its not hard

Northern industrila sells them, they are about 3 to 500
I honestly feel wood pellet stoves are more efficient and less environmentaly damaging AND safer for your lungs.
The oil is probably better off being recycled
