What's with the title of your post. Are you trying to get people to read your post by making uneccessary statements? :dunno

like i suggest to everyone, stop spending $200+ on a pipe with a filter on the end of it and make your own. this is the last time im posting this link. it's for the dinan style but there is another writeup on the short type. and again imo, dinan, cosmos etc is the only true cai. http://www.brazeauracing.com/customcai.htm

intake pipe. im so confused... can i use the 3.5 hfm even if i dont have a 95? some one from understeer told me that i can get 3.5 conforti intakes. ??
yes you can use a 3.5 hfm, but you will need a 3.5" intake

oh i see...so say i got a hfm kit from dinan and i had a cosmos intake, then this would work? would i need to have the dinan software to get this working or can i just use the shark injector?

COSMOS RACING, not much more than making your own as far as cost and its 3 1/2" so when you go to a 3 1/2" hfm later no changes.

huh, reword ur sentence i dont know what u are saying... no gain with the hfm? i heard u get like at elast 10 hp

I meant you don't have to change your intake when you go to the 3 1/2" hfm.

oic. i heard that the hfm doesnt even work well if u dont have the m50 manifold. so, i thikn im just gonna do the conversion. Im just debating on what intake to get... short ram or long tube...

Cosmos Intake is great and does everything the other intakes do for 1/2 the price. The tubing is 3.5" so you'll have nice airflow should you choose the run the 3.5" HFM or not.

yeah my only complaint has been the installation... the tight spacew/ zkw and the horn remounting was a pain in the ass so i was thikning of going to the conforti intake...

That earlier post about the coolant sensor on the 1995 model OEM airbox, how do you recommend that be handled?

i've gone through every intake possible, home made, dinan, old benfer ones, cosmos, ebay kind, tried them all, the best one so far is the carbon fiber benfer 3.5" thats actually made for the e46, true cold air, but u have to cut your brake duct in half and throw the back half away.. the filter sits like 2 inches back from the actual brake duct hole and gets all the true cold air.

Just watch the FS ads and make your own kit.
I collected the parts in about a month.
Used Conforti heat sheild
3.5in Carbon fibre tube
Used 3.5 K&N filter.
Paid just short of $100.

don't be afraid to search. this has all been posted before. you can ziptie it to the tube or you can ziptie it to the alternator air duct, i've seen both being done.
check out this thread (also has horn mounting instructions): http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303506

LOL. Ok like I always say, all intakes make the cars sound mean. They vary slightly, but they all sound good. They all give relatively the same gains, so really don't worry about that. Go either for looks, or value or both. I prefer the long "true" cold air style. I bought Cosmos racing, becasue that is the best value. I don't like the short ones, besides for about a month, your hood looks like it isn't latched because the rubber on the heat shield pushes it up, and until it softens and flattens out some, your hood is bulged. If you take the insulation out of your hood, then it doesn't seal tightly, and the heat shield is useless. Also that area where the heat shield sits, contains other items stock. You have to move those. So either which one you choose, you have to reposition something. I forget what you move when you install short one, but I know you have to move something.

That is cool especially that you were handy, but $100 and a month of waiting, and hoping the used items you got were up to par. or pay $134 to Jerry, you get the product in under a week, and you know they are quality.
As you can already tell, I would say go with Cosmos, but it is really up to you. But there have been a 1001 threads on intakes, and it all comes down to the same arguments being tossed around by the same parties back and forth.

Um...whats the hurry in getting an intake ? Gotta feel those two horses a couple weeks earlier :rolleyes
It took me a month because I was looking for 3.5 parts. 3 in intakes are easy to find.
And there was NOTHING moved in the engine bay to put the intake in.
Nothing against Jerry's intake but I perfor my intake higher than any possible water lines. But since I will no longer be running an intake I don't care.

you do have good points. But based on my personality....I would rather pay the extra money to get it all at once. I like conveinence and not having to do as much. If I am able to be hands off, i love to be. :) But some people would prefer your method and it is great. Different strokes for different folks.
