My line of thought stems from this thread over @ roadfly: http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e85/6410803-1.html
It seems to me that the majority of people whom mod their cars(more substantial mods, not just clear tails or something), are second owners v. original owners.
In the thread I referenced everyone seems to think the thread starter has gone overboard w/his car- yet he only has exhaust, wheels, spoiler, and clear tails...not exactly heaviliy modded(& for the record I think it looks rather nice).
& for the most part most Z4 owners are all original owners(w/some second owners starting to show up). In the Z3 community which has been longer established, I don't think the reaction would be as stark(to the car in question in general, not the grill) & also a majority of Z3 owners on this board seem to be second/third owners...
I'm curious to see if this idea holds any truth or if I'm entirly off base...curious as to rational also if it is true.
The only explanation I can atm think of is that the avg. original owner is generally going to be older(to be able to afford the car in the first place). Versus the second owner who can be younger(obviously due to depreciation), and it is also generally the younger crowd whom mods...
thoughts?
