On a previous post someone recommended a Racing Dynamics. I found one on ebay but they said its for a 525i. I have a 535i. Is there any difference in the exhaust setup? Will it fit? Below is a link and the item number. Thanks

You can make it fit. The exhaust shop will need to use an adapter I think because the 525i Piping is smaller than the 535i. It's a good deal. I got one for my car. It's not loud at all, but it still has only 500 miles on it. It is getting louder each time I drive so hopefully when its done breaking it I'll be happy with it.

Personally,I would stick with a 535i cat-back.That one looks alittle smaller.I doubled checked (also with SuperSprint) and they are the same.

Whats the difference in size of the piping? If its like 2.25 to 2.5 thats not a real big deal in size of the pipes. But if its 2inch to 3inch, that might be an issue. Anyone?

I got the same one. I doubt that the resonator will fit- I didn't work for me (m50 525i). I use my stock resonator for now, but will be replacing it with regular pipes.

I also had to drive my car a bit without the resonator and muffler. Holy shit that was loud. You could go deaf if you drive like that long enough.

What exactly will need to be modified to get it to fit?

I am really just looking for a exhaust for under 300 bucks. This is the cheapest I have found. My stock one is falling apart.

Well, first of all, I would look under the car and verify that the muffler is the same as on ebay. I am almost sure that the resonator will not fit, so you would have to re-use your stock one. Here's the steps I took:

1) Since my muffler fell off, I only had to remove the resonator.
2) Cut the stock muffler off.
3) If you made the cuts in the right places, the RD muffler should just slide onto your stock resonator.
4) Weld the connection point
5) With a help of a friend, put the assembly back into place

Note: this will take around 3-4hrs. I did it with my uncle, since he has a body shop and knows how to weld.

I'm pretty sure RD has the 525i and 535i listed as using the same exhaust on their catalog.

Wow, these exhausts are still floating around... I got mine months ago. Actually, Bruno himself wanted to fit this exhaust on a 535i. You will have to keep your current center piece or replace it with something that will fit a 535i. Note, this RD exhaust comes with an Ansa center piece, which (I think) creates the sound. So without it it'll probably be quiet like Andrey said. Andrey pretty much answered your question.

About this RD exhaust with center piece on an M20, mine sounds pretty good! Ask Josh (LiquidTiger)

any emissions problems with this system? I have to go next month.

Haven't done emissions with this exhaust yet. Can't see it being a problem though since it's cat back If your cat is in decent shape you shouldn't have a problem.

LJSE34's exhuast rules! I love it. Can you list out the exact parts you used? =)
That exhuast made me water my pants. I like it because its not too loud, and has a nice low rumble.

That $139 catback Ansa/RD deal has been going on for a while on ebay now. However, it is M20 engine specific. The M50 has a resonator, whereas the M20 uses a center piece, don't ask me too much about either since I'm not too knowledgeable in exhaust systems. You can get the RD end muffler ($139 stilll a very good deal) to fit your exhaust system, any half decent muffler shop can do this. I actually know a eally good one in San Jose. I don't think you'll get the good sound though... Here's what you might be able to do, get a resonator from a well known exhaust maker like supersprint or whomever makes a nice sounding resonator and get the $139 ebay deal on that RD catback and go to a good muffler shop and make it fit. Maybe that'll allow you to get a nice exhaust system for a decent price

Anyone know if that exhaust system will have a "drone" as typical to ansa mufflers? (Pics are from ansaautomotive.com...)
