I looked before but I am getting closer to actually buying one. Before I think I was looking for a 6 point. Now I think 4-point would be good enuf. I would like to keep the back seat also.
Has anyone had a welding shop make one ? How much would that cost and how hard is it to measure it out right ?? I dont want some cowboy inside my car with a welding torch.

Like we say at the motorcycle shop regarding helmets, "$10 helmet, $10 head."
Get a good, reputable roll cage if you're gonna get one at all. Don't dick around with something like that.
(This from the guy who runs 11's with no cage in his little 2 seater ragtop....) :D

Austin,
There is only 1 bolt in roll bar to buy for an E36, and that is TCKline's bar. But, it is expensive. However, being that it is a safety item, you should never cheap out on it. At this point, you would be wayyyyy better off doing some autocrossing and drivers schools with that money and buying a roll bar later. Also, you will pretty much lose the use of your back seat, unless you want to run the risk of killing your friends when their head hits the bar.

All my friends do is drink my beer anyways :evil2
I just hate the e36 seats I hate sliding around and holding myself in place. So the rollcage was a long term project of getting the cage then getting a seat with a harness and not having to worry about roll over. But I guess I can wait.
what about
