What is this? I have read up on it but still dont get it. I have heard people changing the fluid but dont know why. Id like to change mine too since im on a changing fluid spree. Can some elaborate on it please and let me know i I should change the fluid?

Think of it this way since you don't seem to be too mechanically inclined. Imagine a fish tank in which you never change water. The crap and toxins keeps building up and in time, it needs fresh water for the fish to live in. The same goes for your diff fluid, tranny fluid and engine oil. It just needs to be changed every so often for it to be running at its peak efficiency.

is it a DIY? Could i put the car on jack stands and change it? and with what fluid? E39. Would I feel any difference in any way apart from that fact that its been changed?
