Factory alarm plug. This is a 12-pin plug located behind the glovebox. It should be in plain sight with nothing connected to it. This plug is a lifesaver and makes the install go much easier than it might be otherwise. Its pinouts are as follows (lifted from existing FAQs):

I found mine attached sort of on the bottom of some other things.. Just look.. its a 12 connector harness

You didnt even need to take out the glovebox

You only need to take out the panel on the bottom and look up from down there.. and you should see a harness thats attached to something or other but without another harness connected to it

Its going to be more towards the drivers side then pass side

You sure your year is prewired? *has no idea about what year they started prewiring for alarms*

How can I find out if my car is prewired? I have looked behind the glove box there are a lot of plugs etc and a couple of things that look like they could be alarm brains. Probably not though.... My car is a 1996 323i E36 imported to New Zealand from Japan. Probably not ever sold in the USA. Can anyone tell me what the "black boxes" are behind there and where I could find the prewiring info? Cheers.
