the emergency signal (hazard) light on my car just keep blinking once a while (esp. on hotter days), either the car is on or off, it will keep blinking, once a while it would stop when I go through a bump or something... where should I check? I have been driving around with my light on and off and on and off... it looks suck and dangerous as well..

should I check if there is lose connection? I took out the fuse but then turn signal lights won't work as well so I can't do that.

I suspect that the center console emergecny signal button is broken or some sort of.. but I am not sure...

:(

I'd start with testing the switch in the console. There should be a relay somewhere too if the switch is not the culprit.

Here's the relay part # http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BF93&mospid=47486&prod=19950800&btnr=61_0562&hg=61&fg=25&PHPSESSID=633475659065af38ac4bf6968bfede94

I checked the botton already, it was originally unplugged, so now I plugged it.. but the problem still there... I wonder where is the relay for the emergency signal? I can keep hitting the center console and it will go on and off... driving me nuts :(....

I know this may sound funny but what is probably happening is you are hitting the button for the hazards with your elbow/forearm. You may not fully engage the switch for them to stay on but as long as your elbow is resting on the button the hazard with activate. The reason im guessing this is it happened to me and i couldnt figure it out at first.

Good Luck

thanks for your suggestion but no.. it's not that.. it has to deal with the relay or wire or some sorta.. I don't really know what is going on so either now I drive out with my emergency light on or without any turn signal. I would like to have a fix on it :( I searched around and found that maybe I ran into a pole hole and triggered the crash sensor.. and yes I did ran into a big pole hole before all these happenning, I just have no idea where the relay is located.. I tired fuses and relays in the fuse box in engine bay, didn't make any different.

why don't u use ur fist and bang the center console. see if it flickers. if that don't work, try banging ur hand against the fuse box. try and simulate the situation

yea, when i crashed into two street signs. the r.side bag came out and the door unlocked and the blinkers went on, it was quite the exhilerating experience

:( I don't know if some wires problem or relay or sensor.. but the car has high mile on the body, I expect something need to be replaced but I have no idea which.... so how do you fix it afterward? I wonder where is that crash sensor..

I also tried hitting the center console and yes it flickers and it especially will trigger the light when I hit somewhere in between the onboard computer and glove box..

Happened to my x5 and what i did was closed the doors and turned on and off the alarm once and everything went back to normal. Hope this helps

I have the same problem. Bad ZKE ($$$$).

You can cut the green wire that goes to the most right connector on the ZKE and the hazards won't turn on by themselves anymore but other stuff on the car may stop working.

what is a ZKE???? and where is the greenwire????

ZKE is central body electronics in German or something.

It's behind the glovebox, so you first need to take it off to reach the ZKE.

You'll find the green wire, it's the #1 pin on the most right connector.

so maybe I can find a used part on that ZKE unit?? I just know that it's a lot easier to get the singal on when weather is hot out there.. and in cold weather it never happens.. I do know that in certain condition when I push the center console hella hard it will stop the problem, but when I don't push it.. it will go off again.. okie, so I guess I will have to remove the glove box or something.. the ZKE unit it located the glovebox even for the US specs e36 rite???

(do all e36 use this same unit??)

As I've said before, it's the ZKE.

What other stuff will stop working? Do your turn signals still work once the wire is cut? Is there any idea of a price to replace the part with a functioning part?

so is this problem different than the crash sensor relay or whatever the relay is called that when bad tells your car that it has been in an accident and won't let the car start and turns the hazards on?

sry for the OT if this is not the same issue.

In my 94, when I cut the wire, the sunroof stopped working... I still have to replace my ZKE :(

I'm not sure... When I had this problem I took it to my BMW mech and he told it was the ZKE and he showed me that cutting the green wire the hazards didn't turn on anymore. It was funny that my hazards only went off when I turned the headlights on.

Well I took it to the dealership to let them deal with it (it is totally unsafe to be driving without turn signals). It turns out it wasn't the relay, or the cash module...it was the lighting control module. Once that was replaced the turn signals and hazards work fine.

Part was around $140 Labor about the same...right around $300 fix...kinda sucks but at least it is fixed and EVERYTHING now works on the car.

mine was fixed after I pulled the connector, and replug it back in 5 mins, it never do it again, I guess it's just a bad connection :(
