Just about exactly 5 years ago I sold a 1998 Techno Violet Coupe (no sunroof, no obc, manual non heated seats) :banghead: . Selling that Techno coupe has been my biggest automotive regret and much to the dismay of my wife sent me into a tailspin of automotive ownership. 6 cars in 5 years. Nothing I had since that M3 was the same.
After a lengthy search (1 month - that is long for me), this Thursday I am happily rejoining the M3 ranks with a Cosmos on black 1998 AA Supercharged M3/4. When I post images, many will recognize it as JLee's car.
So this Thursday, I will take a train from NJ to the DC area where I will then take delivery of the car and the anticipation is killing me.
I have come full circle and and I couldnt be happier.

Welcome back, Your dreams were your ticket out. Welcome back, To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well, the names have all changed since you hung around, But those dreams have remained and they've turned around.
Who'dve thought they'd lead ya? (Who'dve thought they'd lead ya?) Back here where we need ya? (Back here where we need ya?)
Yeah, we tease him a lot, Cuz we've got him on the spot. Welcome back.
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Last Thursday I took the train from Trenton NJ down to Washington DC's Union Station to meet the M3's owner. We meet, have lunch and pack up the car and Im happy as can be. When I drove off, I saw that Jeff had a sad look in his eyes. I know that he feels some solace in the act that his car went to someone that will appreciate it. I then spend a few days in the DC/No. VA area with my sis in law as it was her birthday.
Here she is. An image Jlee took. I havent yet had time to take my own.
Heres the lowdown:
1998 M3/4
77800 miles
2 owner documented History
Cosmos on black
Intercooled AA Supercharger Dynoed at 297 RWHP
A pillar mounted gauge pod with Boost and Fuel/Air ratio gauges
Supersprint Exhaust
Bilstein Sports
Eibach Pro Kit Springs
UUC Sway Barbarians
Turner Rear Sway Bar Re-enforcements
X-Brace
Stoptech SS Brake Lines
UUC SSK
Clear Corners
M Contour Wheels with ToyoT1-S
M LTW Wheels with brand new Blizzaks
2 like new 245/40 Falken Tires
Few, yet simple and highly effective modifications.
Can you say TORQUE!! Holy mother of god, the torque pit is bottomless. Car makes a real cool whine at idle and under load. Really havent had the chance to push the car for handling yet, but initial impressions are real positive. Straightline acceleration is amazing. This sedan does not have the rear fold down seats and as such is stiffer than the one with fold dwon rear seats and compared to the M3 Coupe the stiffness is much more noticeable. For 77k miles, the car has its own ecletic collection of chips and scratches. Average for this age car. The car just feels solid.
The interesting thing about FI is that under most normal driving conditions it feels like a stock car, save the compressor whine. When you step on it, the car makes a LOUD roar and you are on your way. 100mph is attainable in no time at all.
One interesting observation is that with the SC the gas milegae for the car went up. Coming home from No. VA yesterday, about 240 miles, at the end of my drive, the OBC indicated that I was getting 39.9 mpg!! A few random checks during the trip, before some heavy go pedal action indicated 41.2mpg
Who the hell needs a diesel....
So I took the M3 to a NJ State inspection this afternoon.....and I get failed. Not because of the superchrger, or the clear corners...but because I have tinted windows, driver and passenger windows to be exact. NJ state law stipulates that both front windows are not allwed to be tinted.
Problem is I like the tint..at 30% its not THAT dark. Anyone know a independent inspection station in Central NJ that will "look past" the window tint?

With the larger fuel injectors that come with the S/C kit, your OBC mpg readings are too good to be true. Try checking your mpg the old fashioned way, using the trip meter and filling up the tank.

Thank you for the kind words.
Ted, I can blame your M3 purchase to get the juices flowing to get my own again. Your techno really struck a chord with me. Techno is still my fav color, but Cosmos is a close second.
