View Full Version : Anyone interested in a KW coilover group buy???
Since everyone has been talking about FK and KW coils lately, I wanted to see if there is anyone interested in a GB for KW coilovers. Looking for a GB around 10 or so people. Let me know if anyone is seriously interested, I have a contact who can get us a nice GB. E46, E36, or e30, let me know :) PM, reply, or email me. At the moment I have two people :)

e36 //M3-$1400
e46-$1199
e46 m3-$1500
e39-$1540

The form of payment must be a money order, as to avoid credit card surcharge of 2%. This group buy will be done through a reputable tuner shop in the LA area (No, not RMS ;)), to ensure everything will be correct. Please email me if you are interested.

Is anyone joining this group buy, or ordered theirs yet? I'd like to know how to get in contact with someone to order these. I was told that the group buy ends tommorow (wednesday)
please email me ashenaq@houston.rr.com
I will be submitting the names of the people to the vendor tomorrow for a final order....you know the prices....payment will be made by money order...or if you want to use a credit card you will have to add 2% to the order to cover the fees...this is why I am encouraging the use of a CC....
Everyone else interested, please contact me today, because the order will be placed tomorrow!!!
Thanks!

Does anyone know if wheel spacers are necessary for installation?
Currently, my rims size are:
18x8 et35, 225/40/18, FRONTS
18x9 et46, 255/35/18, REARS
Can anyone help me out? I just want to know if I need wheel spacers or not?
wheel spacers will only push your wheels out further, which in turn will make it easier to rub against the fenders. What kind of drop is your car on right now?? I think I might need to get my fenders rolled, and if so, I'll just do it at home with a baseball bat ;)

What he is asking is, what I asked once too. You need spacers to clear the suspension, not push the tires out. I guess some suspensions rub against the inner part of the tire. Correct me if that is the wrong reason, but, the reason isn't for lowering reasons, its for equipment spacing. (tires/springs)
So.. anyways. Does anyone know if KW's need spacers to clear moving parts?

From what I've read, due to the dual-spring setup of the KW's, the bottom spring will rub against the stock wheel/tire setup on E36 M3's. The use of 10mm spacers is required with stock wheels. I would imagine that larger wheels may not need to use spacers b/c the distance between the hub and the wheel rim/tire is greater, and the coilover is slanted toward the inside of the car; therefore, leaving more clearance.
Having said that, the only way to be safe is to purchase the spacers and longer lug bolts, and use them if you need them. However, then you run into the problem of big wheels/tires rubbing the fenders if you do use spacers, so maybe you're screwed either way depending on your wheel/tire setup.
The whole spacer idea is one of the reasons that I've decided not to go with a FK/KW/PSS9 coilover kit. Some of the guys I know that know a lot more about suspensions then me claim that spacers ruin the suspension geometry by altering the hub's kingpin angle with respect to the center of the tire's contact patch. To be honest, I don't know what it all means, but it didn't sound good.
For what it's worth. Maybe not much.

thanks for clarifying for me ImageDynamicsM3. The reason why I am concerned is because my 18x9 et46 255/35/18 wheels will be VERY VERY close to clearing the outside fender. Right now the fenders are already rolled out half an inch and will probably only have 2mm (maybe 3mm) of clearence.
I am afraid if I have to add a 5mm or 10mm spacer, my rims will not fit in the back.
Can anyone offer any insight on this?

Darren,
As far as I know, the KW's only require spacers in the front.
Generally, when the use of spacers is required on E36 M3's, it is only in front due to the front MacPherson strut suspension design.
However, you still may have rubbing problems depending on the adjustability of the rear ride height. I read that the ride height for the KW/FK kits is relaitvely low even when the spring perches are threaded all the way to the top of the threads.
Just make sure you can return the kit if you run into fitment problems.
Regards.

What is the status on the orders? Do you know off hand? I don't want to call long distance to find out. Thanks.

"It has only been 1 week since the order was placed...as noted in the groupbuy, the order could take about 2 weeks (max 3), to arrive. The coils are arriving with a large shipment via pallet container...this always takes some time due to size and customs. I will inform you immediately of their
arrival." Samir 6/13

I also contacted HPA Motorsports who are the ONLY importer/distributor for KW Suspensions for the entire North America.
Here is a small piece of what one of their reps wrote to me:
"As for the Renn-Sport issue, I have talked to Samir, and they are purchasing the KW Coilovers through D2 Technik, who is an authorized dealer of KW suspensions."
Darren Pritchard, KW Suspension North America
So for those who are interested in KWs, make sure the shop is an authorized dealer OR they will NOT be under warranty. Just wanted to share my knowledge.
