Maybe try keeping the boot and going back to a black knob. Love the door panels.

So what do you guys think about the shift knob and boot? :lol My wife agrees with you, so it may get changed back to black.
Oh yeah, I also added clear lights (but I took these before I put on the side markers):

Congrats! Nice work. I'm with the rest, blue shifter and boot don't work for me. But, if it makes you happy, roll with it. You have a one of a kind Bimmer.

The shift boot/knob wouldn't be my choice, but it looks alright. But otherwise, that interior looks amazing. Nice choice.

When I first saw the carmel interior I thought, "Don't tell me he took that out and put something else in instead?"
Then when I saw the after pictures, I thought the interior looked awesome. Good choice! However, I must agree with everyone, the blue shifter and boot need the boot.

looks really nice
Looks sick... In addition to the shiftknob black, I would have made the centersection of the seats blue also :)
Also, how come you don't have M3 sideskirts on it? :dunno

His car looks to be a Lux M3.
Nice interior BTW! I must agree with the rest, the shifter and boot MUST GO! I'm also not feeling the m3 badge on the glovebox trim piece. That needs to go with the shifter and boot.

Sick interior. I also don't agree with the blue shift knob, but black I think will go very well. I'm not feeling the giant M3 sign on the glovebox either I think if you must, find the smallest possible ///M or ///M3 emblem you can and then put it on there. I think I've seen them as small as 3/4 of an inch.

looks good. i'd have to agree with the blue shift boot also. but if you got a darker blue saude one it might look better. but anyways i was wondering how you got the center parts of the door panel blue? if you could direct me to some instructions or something that would me helpful.

I'm in agreement with a new knob and boot....door panels look good...the solid black door panels are way too boring....have you sold the camel lux interior yet ??? That should lower your overall cost

I took some photos of the dye process. I will post a full write-up soon.
So really, what do you guys think of the shift boot and knob?!?!?!? :D

so where did you get those perfect vaders and how much did they cost you?
Jayhox
03-07-2005, 11:44 AM
The interior was sold as the first part of this process. I actually did this entire project at NO COST!!! $0 grand sum total. :redspot
However, the guy that bought my interior may be in a situation where he needs to sell it himself. IF you are interested, keep an eye on either this post or in the "Classified" section. He is in SoCal.

Can you take any pictures with more natural lighting and less flash?

That guy is me guy! :stickoutt I plan to take pictures in better (natural) light conditions soon. Maybe that will stop you guys from vomitting at the site of the shift knob! :nono It really isn't that bad. Really.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the knob. Although in the pics it doesn't look great, it seems it was pretty poor lighting, and a flash can do many things to colors. Get up some pics in the sunlight, and maybe our opinions on the shift boot/knob will change.

I would like to thank HoJo for his expertise and help on the project! :redspot Because of that, I will ignore the question about the bird coming from a Wildcat. :D Well, I could address the issue, but the Jayhawks have done the talking this year against the Wildcats on the gridiron and the hardwoods! :alright :buttrock

Cost of the door panels? $20
I was able to buy all of the replacement parts (seats, carpet, door panels) for the price I sold my old interior, including shipping costs. I paid $20 for the dye I used on the door panel inserts. I will post a write-up soon with more photos of the process.

ahhh Nice. I like the door panels. The dash is a good idea, but make it smaller.
What do I really think of the shift knob & boot?
OMG It looks like total arse excavations. Hehe j/k, but it just doens't go. Right when I saw the pictures, it just stood out as wrong, and as much as I tried to say it fit with the door panels it honestly didn't. The panels look great, and so does the interior. But just go back to black knob & boot.
But great work.

The door panel dye job looks sweet... but I agree with everyone else, something doesn't look right with the shift boot and nob combo. Maybe changing the knob to black would make it look better. Damn. I'm still waiting to see what kind of dye you used to possibly dye mine Avus or something. :)
