Just wondering if there's anyone out there using Fuzion ZRi tires. Very interested if anyone has autocrossed them. They are very affordable, but wondering if they grip well. :help

i purchased a set of 235 40 18 Fusion ZRi tires for my BBS RC's back in Nov.04
i have really liked these tires as i've run them on the street, drag raced at Nopi, drove to LA from Oklahoma, to Sacramento, all over LA, and back to Okie Ville and the tires arent' worn looking... with a treadwear of over 300 but a traction of AA A, i've found these to be the best balance of entry level price with max performance. The last tires that i felt that about was my Yoko A520's but those wore more quickly...
as a matter of fact, i've recommended them to a buddy for his vehicle which does double and some times triple duty - so he'll be running the 275 40 17's in his WS6.
For what its worth, you have my blessing on the ZRi's... Hope that helps

I'm running the same exact tirs. They're amazing. I can hold a corner 10x better than before. I'm also amazed at how the tread practically looks brand new. I highly suggest these. I had a set shipped to my door the next day from Tire Rack for $500 total.

Well, that sounds pretty impressive. I'm sure leaning towards them from what I've read and what I've heard.

I also wanted to mention that in rain they seem to be the best 'Ultra High Perf Tire' for the job... from Kuhmo MX's, Mxx3's, Kuhmo 712's, Yoko A520's, Yoko ES100's, Yoko AVS Interm, etc, i've like these fusions -
funny that i didnt think i would as the traction patterns are not the most manly and grippy looking lines out there... fact is, they work for the cost and that has to be a huge contributing factor for someone wanting the best compromise for the money.
I am buying some different 18in wheels today and will be getting Fusion ZRi 265 35 18's for the back of my car and just using two of my 235's for the front - that should be more than suffice for the street - then work towards a dedicated track set up with stickies to go 'real fast' -
i'll run some more auto-x's with my Fusions as i have and know they do the job fairly well... (providing you are nice to them as a driver) -

I'm probably the worst person when I buy something, i.e. I research the hell out of everything before buying something (for example, I jut ordered headphones after debating which ones to get for 2 months).
I'm putting in an order for a set of Fuzion ZRi tires in the next few weeks based on the wonderful reviews I've read about them. I have snow tires now so I can kiss all-seasons good bye. If the Fuzions last longer than the 12K miles I got out of my Contis, I'll be happy.
I wonder if TireRack might give BF.C members a special on ZRi tires *anyone listening out there? hint hint* :D

A friend of mine told me he spoke to a Tirerack rep about these tires before he bought them. According to the rep, they're basically a rebadged Bridgestone RE750. The compound seems to be the same but I'm assuming the casings are different.
I just ordered a set for my wife's IS. Once they wear in, I'll give some feedback.

The grip is excellent. I would highly recommend them as they are quite and the ride quality reminds me of a Pirelli.

Any chance Tire Rack might give us some sort of group buy discount?

I also have Fuzion zri tires on my 540 and love them for summer driving. I also work for a performance and audio shop in Columbus Ohio and can order directly for fuzion tires. I'll give the best deals I can for anybody from this board. If interested the best way to reach me is call me at work 614-785-0804 and ask for Pete.

So i responded a few days ago to the interest in the ZRi's and have since purchased new wheels which required new rear tires - so the car now has 235 40 18's in front and 265 35 18's in the rear on 8's and 9's respectively -
i DO hope the greasy top layer burns off before my visit to the Corvette autocross happening at the local Sherriffs training facility this sunday - I plan on FTD with my streets on and will keep you all posted on how well these tires do while being driven hard...
I promised myself i would NOT race on these wheels and tires but am willing to take one for the team and peform an independant test of the ZRi's -
I can tell you that, at least for now, the wider rear tires have served as no gain in rear grip as traction in 1st and 2nd are terrible with my M motored 318ti with 3.73 gears - if i could put the power down to 3rd it sure would be fast!!!

A friend of mine has some Fusions on his M3. They are pretty new, he says they are not a good tire. They don't stick. I've read similar reviews on TireRack. I was seriously considering them until I read a whole bunch of review on TheRack.

it seems like they are a good grippy tire, like other tires out there. but how do they perform when compared to the best, like S03's or PS2's or Yoko Advan Neovas?
Seems like its made more for normal street driving and treadlife... (not that im saying its no good; im just looking for a cost effective track tire that can be driven on the street)

I'm comparing these to the Parada Spec II's. Any suggestions between the two? I figure the Fuzions will ride better and be less noisy but the Parada's will handle I think.
$893 cdn for the 4 225/40/18's installed whereas the Parada's will be $907 installed.

Odd, most of the reviews I read before purchasing mine were positive.
That's the way it looked the first time I looked at the Fuzions. More recently it had a bunch of negatives. Figured I'd share a couple negatives since so many on here were mentioning positives. ;) I haven't had Fuzions, and I've seen people give completely opposite reviews for tires I have owned from my experience was.
My lease is up on my tires and I'm looking again. Probably go with Sumi HTR Z II. I had the HTR Z, great tire. The II is probably not as sticky but with better longevity.

I've had them on my M Coupe since last September (except for the winter driving) Keep in mind my car is a daily driver...I haven't auto-x'd with them as of yet, but I do engage in spirited driving. I'm not a lunatic on the street by any means, but I feel they are plenty sticky for my driving style. Fine in the rain to boot.

I think the only drawback are the massive sidewalls....

Just replaced my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225/50/16's with only 25k miles on them. One was quite deformed & I could feel it in the seat of my pants. The rest were wearing unevenly and the road noise was unacceptable. I commute 110 miles a day & the ride/noise was driving me nuts.
I was going to get Dunlops – Sport 2000 I think… it’s the same as my spare tire which I was riding on after I couldn’t stand the wobbler anymore. But I was talked into the Fuzions & had them put on last night. I can’t say anything about performance yet. I did push the Michelins once in a while on a mountain road and really liked them- very predictable, good grip. Honestly, though, I’m not a road racer. It’s very rare that I’ll go to the limit on public roads. I get all the thrills I need on my dirtbike and driving karts.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I’ve only put 60 miles on these so far. But I can say that for sure these are a lot quieter and give a nice ride. Yes, I’m comparing brand new tires to very worn ones. But I’m happy for now. And the price was right – about $85 ea.

Just an update for anyone doing a search... it's been 5 months now since buying the Fuzions. I'm pleased. My commute has ended, new job is only 4 miles from home. So I've probably only logged 7-10k miles on them. But they're wearing quite nicely. Ride is very nice & quiet, too.
Cornering is good as far as I can tell (no track time, just twisty-road sprints). I have not pushed them all that hard. The only thing I can really comment on is the rear wheel traction when breaking them loose in a tight turn - they don't instantly grab & jerk the car. Of course, I've also learned to powerslide a little better, so some or most of that is probably attributed to throttle control.

I have them on my car. They stretch very well. They smoke wonderfully too.
To me, thats all that matters.

I bought a set for my M3 2 years ago. They replaced a set of Michelin Pilots. It's time to replace them, but you'd never know that they're worn out by the way they feel on the car.
In the wet, they're excellent. In the dry, they're very good, with predictable loss of adhesion characteristics and almost no road noise. By comparison, the Michelins sucked - without even taking price into consideration.
My next set will be Fusions as well.
(Not to blow my own horn or anything, but I typically drive 24-30K miles every year, in all conditions. I'm old, and I've owned more than 50 different vehicles. I'm not your typical punkass kid who is only concerned about ultimate grip. )
YMMV

Mine have about 12,000kms on them and they're about 40% worn. Decent grip and ride, predictable and the life is not bad at all. I'll probably go with the General Exclaim UHP next as I've heard good things about those and they're slightly cheaper than the ZRi's.

The Fuzion ZRi's are OK tires. I haven't sampled them on a bmw but I currently have them on my GTO in 235/40/18 (stock sizes). For normal street use they are perfectly acceptable. The sidewalls are a little soft (i.e. they roll over a bit too much when pushed hard) and the compound in the tread area is a little hard (i.e. ultimate grip is not up there with some of the more expensive max performance tires). They do seem to have great wear characteristics however and in the rain they perform quite well. They are a relative bargain but if you plan to auto-x or see any track use I'd look elsewhere.
Oh and as mentioned above they do smoke very very well...especially in long 2nd gear powerslide situations. They are relatively quiet while smoking which is also a plus as to not attract any attention. For some reason people don't seem to mind if you're going sideways with the tires lit up as long as it's quiet. I guess people equate shrieking tires to being out of control but smoke without noise doesn't equal the same in their minds?
I've had these tires for 3k miles now. I replaced my Yokohama Neova's with ZRi's and am very pleased. The Neova's were unpredictable and would break loose in the middle of a turn without warning, just a floating feeling. With the ZRi's you know when the traction is going to break and you feel confident in a turn. I normally invest $$ in tires but these were too hard to pass up after reading reviews.
I've owned the following tires: Bridgestone SO2, SO3, RE750; Dunlop SP9000, 8080E; Michelin Pilot Sports I; Kumho 711, 712

I had them on my M3 until I put Blizzaks on the stock wheels just to get some tires on them right when I got it. For the price, there is nothing better. I paid $240 for all 4 installed and the dry grip is great. Not as good as my RE-01Rs, but then again for that price I'm not complaining. Took it to the drag strip and they hooked up well, they are quiet around turns and on most all surfaces. They left a lot to be desired in the rain though, got loose shifting into 2nd around normal turns at normal speeds a couple of times. In the snow these are a joke, I couldn't get over a speed bump :rofl.
