...and BMWs for that matter.
I've owned a S class Mercedes for the last 5 yrs. Good car for the wife, big, safe and relatively fast.
I spent a few months looking at the 500E, C36, C43. Fast? Yeah, sure. Fun to drive? Not too bad. A *blast* to drive? No!! Also looked for a decent 190-16V Cossie, but they're too slow around town and very expensive to maintain.
So... a friend of mine who owns an M coupe brought to my att'n a '95 M3-2 for sale near me. I went to look/drive it and was sold. Wow! What a blast for a decent price and not as $$ to maintain as some of the Mercs.
It's Cosmos black, black vaders, Dinan chip and airbox, Borla exhaust. 85K miles. All records. Comes with an extra set of butt ugly Enkei's. Good for snows or at the track.
Anyhow, I should have it by Tuesday or Wednesday. Good info here and I've learned alot this past week. You guys are dedicated to the marque, that's for sure. :)

Wednesay after work, finally picked it up.
Not the most flattering pics, as the roads are still messy. Still running the winter skins, so hoping to pick up a set of summer/track tires next month. Undecided about the brand... Ordered some clear corners, that's about it for exterior mods. I like to keep them stock, though this does have limo tint windows.

Nice car but I gotta ask what it parked beside it with the fin taillight? Looks a bit like an old Lincoln Continental.

That's my '69 Cadillac Fleetwood. 472 cubes, 510 ft/lbs torque. Moves out pretty well for a beast, really roasts the rears.
The BMW is in the wife's spot since her Merc is in the body shop due to a deer accident (light damage) -- It's taking a lot longer since I upgraded to Euro lamps and the shop had probs finding the wiring adapters. (sent from Germany it seems).
I'll get her washed up tomorrow and take another pic. Nothing exciting, many better looking E36s around here.

Thanks,
I think they're Enkei "Zincs" -- at at least that's what the PO told me. About the only thing I don't have a receipt for on that car. 16-spoke -- f-ugly, but good enough for secondary use. I'll post a pic.
... yes, it'll be hard to get back behind the wheel of the Merc, though it's mainyl the wife's car :)

nice car, welcome to the boards. Black/black is a sweet combo. People will say it will get hot in the summer, but bah, small price to pay for good looks. ;)

Thanks,
I'm also in Madison. Live on the east side.
I drove it to work today and got a nice comment.
Yep, I noticed it was hot just driving around in sunny 20F weather, even with the tint...
These pics do it some justice: (The Geo in the background is a loaner car from the body shop, where the wife's car is right now)

what exhaust is that? It is definately aftermarket.
Also those rims look like the "throwing stars" off of the e28 or e34 (can't remember which body style..I wanna say e34) M5.

Exhaust is Borla, circa '95 per the receipt.
Yep, those are E34 rims.
The PO says they're factory M5s. The only rims I recall on the E34 M, are the one's from "Ronin" -- but that was a Euro car of course.

Ironically, while driving over to see the car for the first time, I spotted a similiar M3 over by the city-county building. It looked pretty trashed sitting on the side of the street.

E34, M's. Not sure if the PO special ordered them or what (?) Never got the story. I think the spare is a throwing star as well.

The PO threw in these extra set of rims, Enkei "Zincs"
Ugly, but good enough for winter or track - skins are shot.

Especially when/if you start to tool on it. Plenty of resources online and the cost of E36 parts are reasonable.
Congrats and nice car ! :buttrock

yeah, i looked back on an old thread. Mblaster (on the board) has an e34 M5. He says they are factory M5 rims, I forget the technical name but their nickname is "throwing stars".

Looking around at some tires and wondering if 255/45s would work OK in the rear -- 235's up front (?)
Thanks,

Cool to see you guys both live in Madison; I live nearby in Middleton and am a senior there as well right now. Have you guys seen that black hardtop supercharged e36 M3 around? I've only seen it a couple times last summer/fall time around west side area on Mineral Point Rd. I assume he's put it away for winter time. Hellrot, you live on the east side or west? You may have seen me around before considering e30's are really rare around here. I drive a black 325es. Cool to see some people on this site that live around here.

I used to live on the far west side, but don't recall that particular car. He probably has it serviced at Dunns, so Jeff should know about the car. If I remember, I'll ask him about it next time I'm over there.
In the past few yrs, I've only spotted a handful E36 M3s in Madtown. A few 4 doors, the Cosmos 2 door like mine -- There's also a fella' near me who owns a red Viper, mid 90's Vette and a Dakar yellow M3. Saw his Viper on the road Sunday, pefect weather for an Italian tune-up.

Nice M3. The tire sizes you posted are too large. Also, I'd stick to non staggered. If you did run a 255 rear, you'd need a 40 profile, not a 45. Then the front would be a 225/45 17. If you're wheels are non staggered, just run 235 40 or 245 40 all around.

Thanks for the reply. I'd probably go with 225 45/245 40's -- and I'm thinking about the Kumho MX. Read good things about them, considering they're only $130.
