Hey guys
I just did a OBI manifold conversion on my 96 m3. Engine start up but its seem to bog. When you gas it a litte it start to choke and it seem like its gonna die. Any idea what wrong with it? Also i was wondering if the OBII fuel injector will on the OBI manifold...it dont seem to fit that perfectly. I'm thinking its either the injector or either not enough air coming in?

thanks

Sonny

It's a bit tough to understand what you're saying. It sounds like after doing the OBD1 manifold swap your car is bogging. Does it idle normal? You might want to check your vacuum connections. More descriptive symptoms will help us diagnose the problem.

vacume leak, check the hoses

Yeap, vaccume leak. Let me asked you a question, did you put TWO gasket on the TB? One gasket is cut in half and place between the other gasket.

alrite thanks guy for the reply.

yes i check every hoses. I use the obI conversion method on this site: http://www.midnightautowerks.com/Installs/95intake/install.html

I have another question: does the obII fuel injector fit rite onto the obI manifold...its seem it dont fit too perfectly compare to the obII manifold....j/w

Spray some throttle-body cleaner around the TB and new hoses with the car on, and see if it gets sucked in ... that'll pinpoint your vac leak.

Also the injectors don't go into the manifold, so there's no question of fitment. It's your fuel-rail cover that doesn't sit flush, because of the wider runners. You can either keep it like that or get a modified one from www.eurosporthighperformance.com for $30

Alright, I can't answer anymore questions on this thread until you call it OBD instead of OB - It's OnBoard Diagnostics.

I agree with ParadigmGuy ... OBD I = On Board Diagnostics ....

OBI = STAR WARS REFERENCE. :confused Maybe if you use the "FORCE" your problem will be solved. :dunno

Regarding the OBD 2 injector fuel rail & injectors and the OBD 1 intake manifold. The OBD 2 injector rail spaces the injectors correctly to fit into the OBD 1 intake. However, the two bolts that hold the rail to the manifold do not line up over the holes in the manifold. There is about 3/4 inch offset. Just make a metal tab with two holes and bolt things together.

You might still have a vacuum leak or have a couple sensors crossed.

Vacuum leak. Sounds like you didn't mount the injectors in correctly, which will cause a leak. Make a bracket for them out of sheet metal.
