My Fittipaldi 17's are coming in today and will be ready to bolt on... My only problem is that I didn't order the lug nut kit with them. I wanted to use my factory lugs because they are powder coated black and they look pretty pimp. Do factory lugs usually fit aftermarket lug holes? I'm sure it depends on what wheel company or wheel style, but in general. I really hope they fit... Thanks!

The right answer is..

it all depends on the wheel..

You should have got the lug kit with the wheels so you know they are the right ones, why risk messing up a wheel or worse?

it depends on the actually lug whole size. If it's large enough to fit the lug and a 17mm socket, then yes it will fit...if you can barely get the lug in the whole. then no it wont fit. You'll know as soon as you install or try to install them. However, if a compay sells a lug kit for that wheel, there usually is a reason...

The guy from the wheel/tires company said "I'm pretty sure the factory lugs will work". I may have gotten suckered, but the lug kit he wanted to sell me was $140... for 16 crome plated lugs. I figured that since A) the "wheel expert" said it should work, and I trusted that, and B) I REALLY like black more than chrome, and C) I would be saving $140, that maybe my action was justified... Either way, I guess I made a stupid move. :( Has anyone on here ever actually used their factory lugs with aftermarkets?

lmao, brain fart... 20 is what I meant, my apologies. :stickoutt

Well I get off at 5 and will install the wheels around 5:30, so time will tell. Of course all the local wheelshops close at 5 so if I do have to buy a lug kit I will have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks for the input.

The stock lugs should fit.

yea it should be fine... i think the lugs need to rotate 3 times around to be safe. 1080 degrees. dont quote me on that, im jus thinking off the top of my head, it could be 2 1/2... 900 degrees. i forget..

some aftermarket wheels use a cup or cone point lug because it fits up with the contour of the lug opening. In this case you just want to make sure your factory lugs use the same contour as the wheel. Otherwise you are going to damage the wheel or risk having a poor connection to the hub.

I used my stock lugs on my BBS RK's I prefer the black over the silver lugs...

Just wanted to let you all know, I jetted home from work yesterday and pulled one of my factory lug studs out and it fit perfect in the Fittipaldis. :buttrock I havnt taken any pics yet because my car is dirty (I'm washing it after work today). I will likey open a new thread with some pics tomorrow. For the record, these wheels mounted perfect and I sware on my life I can't tell a difference in the ride before and after...

Uh, try 6-8 turns to fully engage and be safe.

You also have to be concered with the degree of the angle on the conical seat . Many aftermarket wheels with a 72.56 centerbore and 5x120 bolt pattern would be desinged to accept oem 30 degree conical seat lug bolt.

If you just wanted some nice new shiney ones , I have some forsale.

I also have a set of thin walls w/cog forsale too . I've changed my wheels a few too many times and started a collection.
