ok, im getting 235/40/17 front and 245/40/17 rear 100%. no i dont want 225/45/17 i dont care if it will match the rear height better i want less understeer but with a staggard settup.

im going with Continental Sport Contact2s, for theyre decent price, grippyness and the fact they will last longer than S03s and such. anyone think i should consider another tire that comes in that size? has to have lots of grip, AND wear well and not be too expensive.

I assume you are running 17x7.5 front, 17 x 8.5 in rear? If so you can run 235/40 front and rear on those & rotate the tires, you would still need unmount/remount. But yes 235/40 245/40 should give you less understeer. I run 235/40 front/back Mich. PS.

yea i considered going 235s all around but i dont want the stretched sidewall in the back. i want to put my staggard sizing to use, while limiting understeer.

Have heard good reviews on the Fuzion ZRi's. Not sure about wear on them.

Just watch out for kicking in the ABS or Traction control due to diameter difference.

my traction control is a joke hahah. not worrying about that. ABS on the other hand only kicks in on extreme circumstances like when i mash the peddal over wet leaves.

i like my tire choice, but would consider going with the BFG KDW2s in the same sizing next round.

Great thread! I am just about to purchase tires too...and have been really debating and trying to research this exact issue. There doesn't seem to be a consensus answer, but what you suggest seems like the perfect solution to the "less understeer" issue without trying to squich a 245/40-17 onto the narrow 7.5 inch rim. I am going to go with the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's. Per Tirerack, the rear tire is 24.8 inches in diameter, while the 235/40-17 is 24.5. I don't think this should cause an ABS or DSC problem? For reference, the 225/45-17 is 25 inches in diameter.

Thoughts any and everyone?

Thanks,

Colebob

I got a brand new pair of 235/40/17 s03 if anyone is interested. Could be worth it for socal people that can pick up.. will save quite a bit on shipping.

How would 235/40/17s cause ABS or Traction control problems? '95 M3s came with them from the factory.

they rotate a different number of times/second than the car was built for :confused

if you look on tire rack they give a you a number of the times the tire rotates in a minute and the 235 are slower I believe, cuasing an error, honestly I have no idea
