Hey everyone.

I dont post here much but read around here all the time. I own a shop here in hayward CA, we do mostly high horsepower 4 bangers (450WHP and up type stuff)

After owning plenty of fast turbo and all motor 4 bangers (DSM's and hondas) I am really ready to move up to a car that does more then just perform well. Im looking to get something grown up that I can still play with. That decision leads me to the m3. I installed a blower and plenty of other things on a good friend of mines M3 Im very familiar with working on m3's so thats for sure a plus on my side.

My question is:

What do you love about your m3 and what do you hate or dislike about your m3? Im talking about driving it around every day, freeway noise and stuff like that.

Thanks.

You want what I have... It wasn't that hard to find just keep your eyes open and good luck to you :)

I honestly have a lot of little things I dislike in these cars, But for the money it's great performance and a best buy in my book.

I hate how it sometimes feels cheap...

Like when the midrange HK speakers blow out when I don't even listen to music loud :confused

Or how the rubber stuff that mates the car to the bottom of the windshield likes to crack away...

Or how it's so common to have wierd electronic failure/glitches.

Those are my main complaints.. but other than that.. great carr

The E36 M3 has it's positives and negatives but I think the positives outweigh the negatives by far. I've owned my M for 3 years now and to this day she still puts a smile on my face everytime I get behind the wheel. I now have 123k on the odometer and I purchased her at 70K, so you could definitely see I love driving her. Yes, little 'ish goes wrong here and there but overall she's a excellent car. :)

PS. By chance, if you happen to buy a Hellrot 2 door with a wing, I'll gladly trade you trunks and pay the shipping cost. :D

I LOVE the handling, the general feel of the car and the overall driving experience. It's simply a pleasure to drive.
I've had my car for 8 years and will never get rid of it.

I HATE one thing. The car is simply not fast enough for my taste.
I hate the fact that it actually takes some effort to be quicker than a 328.
That's just ridiculous, what do you want me to say? Do you think a 911 has any problems dispatching a 328?
Also, given the fact that it's a 10 year old car, and in view of the latest offerings
from all the other major manufacturers, I'm afraid the car will soon qualify as a slow car :shifty

If you make your peace with that, then this is the car for you.
Then again, if you go FI then never mind...

i have gone through a few cars now as well. such as 98 integ gsr and a 88 rx7 turbo II. I now own a 97 m3
as a little comparison let me tell you my rx7 was by far the fastest(wasnt stock:))
ok things to love about this car- feels so solid. not like a honda at all(partly due to the heavy doors i think) sometimes driving a light honda is fun too though..feels like u can juss toss it around.
-if u like torque this car blows imports away.
its got so much low end torque sometimes i just start in second gear. haha
- the engine feels surprisingly smooth for a 6 cylinder(not as smooth as rotary though)
-handling stock is decent, but wayyy better once car has shock and springs in.( i have koni sa's and pro kit-made a huge difference)
-in relation to this the car is extremely predictable . hondas are pretty predictable too but they have a little too much understeer. my rx7 was nice and 50/50 weight ration, but tended to be a little tail happy at times.

things to not like AS much:
- the huge 4 spoke steering wheel ( not that big of a deal but still gets annoying coming from a little momo in my rx7)
-burns oil-not like a rotary but still got to make sure you pay attention to oil levels.
- wierd ticking noises from engine bay i think mine is caused by the lifters)
-obd2 is lame when trying to modify (obviously there are ways around this though-flashing etc)
-lastly COSTS
this one is definitely true. one example is oil uses a lot and synthetic. 50-90 buck oil changes take a toll.

like everyone else said though, i still wouldnt trade it for anything. i loved my other cars, but this is the best combination of performance)track and street) and reliblity as a daily driver ..dont forget it looks dam sexy and more mature than ur average ricer
