I have a 1995 M3 and several days ago in the fourth cylinder I bent the intake valve. So i'm getting a valve job done. Are there any different type or aftermarket valves that I should go with that would be better than stock and maybe give me better performance?

If you arent pushing out any high numbers, the stock stuff should be just fine. Aftermarket valves arent going to give you any more hp/tq.
Where are you getting the valve job done? Make sure they do a 3-angle cut on the valve seat.

I'm getting it done by a mechanic i've been dealing with for the past 7 years. What's a 3-angle cut on the valve seat, can you explain I really don't know much about valves.

it is when they cut 3 angles(generally 31*, 45*, 60*) where the valve contacts the head, so that it seals better.
Im sure he will do it. Also right now is an excellent time to get a nice port & polish job :)

I'll ask him about it and thanks for the information. :buttrock

Stock valves will do fine. Buy them yourself from www.eap4parts.com
They are almost 1/2 the price of the BMW stealership..and that was using my dealer discount. Also dont forget to upgrade the retainers while you have the head off.

Can you elaborate how you bent your valve? Why that cylinder? And how did you know/symptoms? thanks.

I was at a light and when I took off I ran it up to 5500-6000 rpm and then shifted to second. Right after that I heard something blow, on the ride home at every light I stopped at the car would cut of and it had no power when i would accelerate.

Thats where I got all my parts from, IIRC I paid less than they are charging now. The machine shop that rebuilt my head said I needed the valve spring retainers upper and lower, and new retainers, so be ready for that just in case. If you just bent a valve, all of the above parts should get you back on the road.

Im assuming you're getting the whole valvetrain done, and not just one valve?
