I just put antifreeze in last week, there are no leaks, no air bubbles, is this a bad sensor or bmw's infamous electronics?

check the plug for the sensor at the bottom of the expansion tank. they pop off/corode, etc.

i hav ethe same problem everytime i turn my car on and off it says check coolent level my dam cooolent is more than level its overfilled! there are 2 wires witch go to the sensor the way they are sset up they can be put on backword can i have the wires on back word? also if i switch the wires will i pop a fuse or anything anyone know how this works. i know on some sensors you can just twist the wires together to complete the circut and it will always think the coolent is full if i do that

Could be a bad sensor - I replaced mine, and it went away, then came back a week or so later :( I believe that the connector to the sensor is not the best one for the job, that could be your problem, mine used to rub against the frame, wearing against the insulation and causing, well we all know, that darn coolant error lol. Whe i replaced mine it looked like it had never been replaced. I had the sensor in my 325e give me the same troubles until I replaced it.

It has come to my understanding that it could also be bad coolant, so may want to check that out as well, give it a flush.

Some people have had luck fixing this by replacing the sensor, others have replaced the sensor and continue to get the error. I just replaced my sensor last night when I changed the thermostat and water pump since I was getting the error and so far it hasn't been back...

I'd suggest jumpering the wires that plug into the sensor to see if it eliminates the error. If the error is gone once you jumper the wires then you can probably assume that the sensor is causing the error.

In case you were wondering, the sensor is on the passenger side at the bottom of the holding tank behind the radiator...

Good luck...

It should be ok to swap the wires because the sensor is just a magnetic switch, no electronics in it at all.
