The lifters tick for approx. 15 seconds on a cold (below 32 F) startup. Is this normal? Do the lifters need replacing? What can i do to prevent this? Thanks in advance. :help :help :help

I was using mobil one sythetic 15w50 for the last 3-4000 miles. The lifters were ticking on cold startups, so I replaced my oil yesterday with Pentosin (http://www.crpindustries.com/pentosin.htm) Synthetic 5w40. It came in 5 liter containers and i only bought one so i had to add 2 quarts of conventional Valvoline 10w40. The lifters still sounded this morning.

Your next oil change, try running mobil 1 0W40 and see if that helps.

I tried using a different oil weight when I had this problem and I got a CEL for my knock sensor 4-6 cyl's. Have you had that problem when you switched weights? Did it in my old 2.5 motor as well.
Just a lil fyi
