View Full Version : Powering the sunroof

Hey guys. I need help. As you may know, my ZKE is bad so my sunroof doesn't get any power (everything else works besides the alarm). So I want to take the power from a different place and wire it to the sunroof button.
Where can I take the power from? I was thinking directly from the light there but I don't think it's a good idea (also the sunroof button will be always lit if use that power source).
It's summer there so I really need to be able to open the damn sunroof :mad
Thanks in advance.
- David.

DAVE,
going by memory here, cuz i had to do it before on a 92. but what i did was just run a power wire from the sunroof to around the headliner, down the a pillar and tapped into the steering column, and by doing so, i tapped into and "always hot" therefore I could use it with turning the ignition. BTW its hot there already? it was like 45 today. my nipples even got hard

Thanks. Do you know to what wire can I tap it into so it only gets powered when you need to use it (like when the windows roll down too)? I don't want the sunroof button light to be always lit.
It has been hot here since November. Most days are 80F-90F. It won't get any colder until the end of March.

I know I have a different ZKE. My car isn't wired for a dealers alarm, it already comes with an alarm from factory :) (which stopped working anyways :() But I think the wiring is quite similar to the US specs cars.
PS: Shh, don't tell anyone, I have to flip my pictures upside down :D

I was thinking to do that as well... How did you make the hole to fit the button? Do you know if you can use a windows button instead of the sunroof button (I know the one-touch features won't work but I still want to do it)?

Yeah, that's the big problem.
So good we have springs manufacturers here. They even make coilover kits but I don't think I need that.

no power is supplied to the relay until the buttons are pressed, now DAVE, this is USA car, it runs off 12VDC. Last i heard your car ran off pedal power so your voltages might be a little off there or something :D let me know if this helps. sorry for the delay

But what I wanted to know is where to take the power from (I mean another place, not the sunroof).
