I wanted to replace my hood shocks, but I can't get them out! How do you get the shocks out to replace them?

on both ends of the strut is a silver clamp. Just use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the clamp open a little bit. When I did it, the clamp flew across the garage :eyecrazy Once both sides are clampless, just slide the strut off the post.

the replacement strut should already have the clamp on them. They just snap into place.

Part might be a'flying when you popout the clip. It's pretty straight forwards after you figure it out. Do make sure to prop up the hood some you don't end up getting smashed by it as you take the shocks out. I just did this to my 94 325is and it was a piece of cake after figuring our how the whole assembly worked together. Let me know if you run into any problems, and I'll be glad to walk you through as one newbie helping another. Heck I'll even keep my nose horizontal and not pointed slightly up.... Remember, it's all a learning curve my friend.

I just did this too. A small flat-head screwdriver will makes things real easy.
