I hate cold weather. Something always happen.

Couple of days ago after I drove 30 miles in that snowstorm, I found out that the steering wheel makes some sort of a scratching noise every time I turn it pass a certain position --regardless I turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise.
For example, I'm making a left turn: I turn the wheel left passing about 10 o'clock position, it'll make the noise, then when I straighten the wheel back passing that same location, it'll make the noise again.

The sound seems to be coming from the inside, not outside. Anybody could help me locate this? Is it serious? If not then I'll just live with it. It's an old car anyway.

There was a post about it...try searching under squeek. From what I gathered it has to do with a small spring inside the engine compartment, up against the firewall.

Mine does the same thing if its below 40° outside. Its annoying, but goes away once the car is warmed up.

it might be the steering wheel rubbing on the collumn that it is set on, it was doing that on my 528i, nothing i did about it.

Try searching for it like said before... Im not positive but I believe its something to do with like a bearing that needs to be sprayed with some WD40 or something...
