Lsd?

ok so i was trying to inquire about the rear in my parts car. i have a 94 325i.
so ii called the dealer and asked them if they could check for me through the vin# and he never asked for the vin couse he told be that it is only available in the 96+ cars and since it is a 94 there is no way it could have it.anyone have any ferther information on this

LSD was available as an option on our cars, but it was rare, so chances are you don't have one.

the dealer was wrong. LSD were optional from the factory in 94 or included in the cold weather package up until bmw switched to traction control.

My 93 has one but i have the cold weather package too.

My 93 has one as well. But same as him, I have the cold weather package.

so my 98 with traction control definately does not have lsd :-)

did you look at the link i showed you? in that thread, I posted how you can find out for sure.

but yes, if it has the cold weather package and no traction control, then it has the LSD.

Easiest way to be sure is to jack the rear of the car (safe jacking please) with the parking brake off and the car in neutral. Spin one of the wheels. If the other wheel spins in the same direction, the you have a LSD. If the other wheel spins in the opposite direction you have an open differential (non-LSD).

AFAIK, this works for any car and any LSD.

i did look at the link witch is nice i found out my 93 325is has a LSD, but my 94 325i has no paper underneeth the seat it is missing
