Its been raining like crazy here in the bay area, but I do want to put up a post for those interested.

1999 m3 coupe
51k miles
estoril blue exterior
black leather interior (vaders)
power everything
keyless and alarm (2 sets of keys/remotes)
harmon kardon
cd changer (may not be included)
excellent condition - no body damage or major dings/scratches, but some paint chips on the front from normal highway driving
second owner
garage kept

As soon as it stops raining for more than a few hours, I'll snap pics.

I just bought the car last april, and I really hate to do this so soon. But my family comes first, and we would like to get a house. So, in an attempt to minimize debt, I am selling it. :(

The price is set at $24k. PM me if interested.

You got to be joking :confused

KBB private party for this car shows around 24k, trade in around 22k. Retail shows 26k.

What do you base your numbers on???

Chris on forums most people are looking for great deals. There also are a lot of e36 m3s for sale lately so the prices are taking a bit of a beating. I think you could get close to your asking price if you list the car on autotrader or cars.com and just be patient. You're also selling at a bad time of year, seeing as how it's winter and half the country isn't looking for a sportier car, and we just entered a new year.

unfortunatly, the price of M3s is in the drain, sucks for sellers, rocks for buyers. Good luck with the sale, that was the color combo I was desperately searching for about a year and a half ago, but it's about 10K over my budget. I know you won't let it go for 14, I'm not suggesting that you do, but you may want to replace "firm" with "obo" if the going gets tough.

Good luck with the house hunt, I'd wait another year or two if I were you, the prices should start to go down soon.

umm not to be flamed or anything but you live out in Cali and prices there might be in norm or even a bargain at this point but here on the east coast its different i didnt look at your location until now

this is where we are seeing the differences :)

keep firm on your price. If i had 24k i would see my M and buy this in a second. Your car is def. worth it. I think if you hold out long enough you can get about 20-23k

Double spoke wheels, no spoiler.

Just to add.. this car is completely stock. No tint, no mods, nothing. I bought the car knowing it was completely stock (I like a clean slate to start with). Heck, the cluster gauge still has the warning stickers (gas I think) on it. I've kept it garaged, and only driven 4k miles since I got it 9 months ago. Its been garaged and washed frequently, and has been waxed twiced.

The tires have 60% tread or so, as they were fairly new when I got then (i'd say 80% tread).

I am replacing the driver side foglamp due to a crack (damn rocks). And the rear m3 emblem due to some sun fading. The floormats are fairly new, I got a new set when I got the car. As for maintenance, its needed none, as I've only put 4k on it. I would have changed the oil at 7500miles if I reached it. ;)

I feel the car is worth what KBB tells me (private party), but to be fair, I have knocked it down to be fair.

Actually socal has some of the highest prices for used M3s. Nor cal is a little less. I think your price is semi decent for what you are selling. Don't take anything less than $22k

It did in the early 90s, anyone remember that? Freakin' dove. The market was crap. Then it came back up. It can't go much higher, the market won't support it. Only place for it to go is down.

Wow.. the EBs are coming out of the wood works.... love the color combo.... I would hold out for 24k... might take awhile, but for the color combo, and pretty low miles, you'll get it.

lol... well, perhaps where you are, if there is a surplus of land to build on. Where I am, 30 minutes north of NYC, land is at a premium. There IS a shortage and the market continues to support it, and demand continues to drive it UP and UP. A house you could have bought for $275K 5 years ago, now sells for $625K. Ask me how I know...

thats definitely the first ive heard of that tone, considering everybody here keeps telling me to buy a house. I mean, it always seems like 'how could it get any higher?', but then it just does.

as for the car, when i was searching for an M3 or M roadster, 3 months ago, i would have paid 22k for this car, assuming there were no unforseen problems. and i would have flown cross country to get it. so yea i'd say your price isnt far off. say obo, and take 22k for it, if youre willing.

It's garbage... I bought a house in August. If I were to list it today, according to my broker...we would do so for 30K more than what I paid. When my offer was accepted, the house had been on the market for all of 8 hours!

Nice car! Don't listen to the haters. I sold the same car to a member of this forum a few months ago for 24.5k -- this is the most desireable color combo available on the e36 m3 -- you'll get a buyer at that price. (Only thing hurting you right now is the weather -- spring will have people looking for sports cars again.)

Be patient. We had ours on the market for months asking $25k. It was a 99 Black/Black w/ 43k miles. We ended up letting it go for $23,500 just because it would have cost us over $1100 to re-register it (we moved).

So hang in there... someone looking for a clean M3 will come along. You will have plenty of people who are looking for a bargain at lower prices, but those arent the people you want to sell to. The right buyer, looking for a low milage, CLEAN car WILL come along.

Glad to see that you're gonna get another E36 soon, cuz they rock! Can I ask you a question tho? Do you miss or regret getting rid of that Byzanz? Dude, that shit was hot!

I'm a little worried that you may buy the car I'm looking at before I do. j/k Cheers, however. Happy New Year, Ben and good luck on the M3 Hunt.

Cyber:

I live in Alameda, CA and am very very interested. I won't do 24, but would definately buy near that range. Just for reference, posted in this forum, there is an estoril M3 in maine with 36.5K miles for the same asking price as yours. (and his has forged rims) I'm gonna buy an estoril M3 in this coast or the other in the next couple weeks, so PM me or email me if you want to meet.

Question: what's the deal with the forged LTW's? Is this rare on the E36 m3? How much are they after market and are they worth it? Thanks.

To my knowledge, they are forged and lighter. I also believe they came standard on the ltw m3 as well? Someone correct me if Im wrong.

California's housing situation is definately unique. Only 5% of the state is developed so yeah, there is land here. I was just talking to my aunt and uncle, realters in CA, last week about the market. It will go down. Now is the time to sell, and I guess if you want low intrest rates before they go up more, now is the time to buy. but the values will go down.

cyberhide

I cant wait for the bubble to pop. I am tired of watching homes go up in price, and the percentage of families who can afford them go down. It makes me sick to think it would cost the average family $2000+ a month to buy a decent 3-4bdr home in Cali.

On other topics, the car is still available. I have reduced the price to $23,500 after feeling out what people are interested in paying. This number is fairly close to firm, but I'm not doing it to be selfish or greedy, just wanna pay a car loan off.

Pics real soon. Just need the weather to be on my side! :)

I didn't mean to come across like an ass...but realtors, investors, sellers, buyers, analysts....you name it...have all been speculating at when the "bubble will burst". I had been sitting around for 3 to 4 years waiting for things to "burst". Things may well level off at some point, but like I said before, historically RE holds value. RE is always a safe investment in a desireable area.

i am very interested in this car. i am in socal and found another one est. blue low mileage in norcal, similar to yours. any chance that car has heated seats? :)

...and any cosmetic blemishes on the car? i know you said it is in excellent condition, just wanted to be sure...i am looking for a very clean (no body work required) car. i was curious about the condition of the interior as well.

also could you please post the VIN # ?

i am a very serious buyer and i am looking to buy by the end of the month.
