So I'm over at the bran spankin new BMW dealership that just opened this week, only 2 miles form the crib. I'm on a quest for bimmer X-mas presents for my bro. I'm crusing the parking lot and I notice a bunch of spankin new Minis, S's, vert S's. Guys are putting plates on them w/ Enterprise frames. So that gets me thinking. I cruise around after picking up the appropriate swag for the bro, and I find a Enterprise counter. "Dude what's up with all the Minis? Can I rent one?" "Sure!", the guy says. " But they are all brand new with only delivery miles on them, go pick one out" So I come home with a brand new Cooper S for the weekend...15 miles on the odo, 6spd, leather, big ass sunroof, big alloys. I'm here to say I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. They are a hoot. :buttrock :redspot

They are a hoot to drive, but I have had the Cooper and Cooper S and all of them had problems, perhaps associated with them being introduction models. I bought a CVT for my mother as a Mothers Day gift in 2002. Unfortunately, I ended up fighting with the dealership and MINI regarding the tranny and its driveability in stop and go traffic.

My Cooper spent 54 days out of service in its first 90 days with me. The S went through 3 or 4 coolant tanks in the year that I owned it.

Watch out for rattling from the tranny on the S as many have had to replace either the tranny or clutch within the first 1000 miles! :eek:
