Heres my e39 2000. Mod your BMW tastfully, I've seen some people rice there BMW out of control. There's nothing most exciting than seeing a great modded BMW weather its Classic or aggressive modding in my opinion.

So you've seen me on I-95? Post a pic of your ride, Is it modded? I probably will notice it. How recently did you see me? Did I have the yellow lamin-x on the headlights, it looks sweet man.

was a hile ago, like 1.5 month or so... and once afterwards on Clint moore rd... I work right there.
I dont think you had the yellow lamin-x but then i was day light and i did pay more attention to the body and what not.
Getting wheels for my car as well as M front bumper, spent a lot of $ on christmas already so the modding is going slowly.
mine is a black 528i sport.

Agree 1000%, take your time and mod the car in a tasteful manner. For some reason a BMW with spinners and neon just hurts me, it almost seems like abuse (I dont know why). Even if you like chrome / hi-polished, you can just choose the right wheel design and have a very classy look
Anyhow, start with wheels, then suspension, then aero, exhaust, intake, etc. You can add monitors (just keep it simple maybe 2 headrest/ 2visor, or dash unit), subs/amps, etc, just take your time and keep your installation clean.
here are a few of my favorite E39s (some of 5ers some are Ms)

Ahh........point of clarification. Rarest paint code on 2001 e39's. About 1 car in 750 got the Electric Red. The dakar yellow was available in the early run of e39's. I've only seen pics though.

here's two, you can do a sporty ghetto combination. many people here consider chrome ghetto but if you pick the right wheels it can be sporty too. you just have to look at a whole lot of pictures to get an idead of what you like and dont like. look at www.cardomain.com and search 5 series, youll see every kind possible. this is my car and my boy from st. louis.

Your ride is definitly one of the most tastfully modded 5ers I've seen. :buttrock I love all the cf mods. Can you tell me more about the brake duct mod, I thought that was only for the m5? Where do you get the silver rings from any info would be helpful. Thanks

thanks guys.. but perhaps your drooling over that chick in my sig..and not my car huh. hahah.. id hit it. and then drive my car around to celebrate.. hahah fat chance.
but anywaz~ the brake duct mod is sooOO easy. you just buy two "sink hole" thingies.. i dont know what theyre really called. but buy the good looking ones.. haha..
then you cutout two holes into your grill.. glue those plastic backing plates behind the grill so they dont move.. and just attach your brake ducts behind the grill.. its been a while.. so im prob missing some steps
ill take a picture for you.. i have to take off my bumper again anywaz.. 10 mins easy. haha.
TG5.. your ride is hot too.. very clean. those are the only iF rims that i like for the 5 series. i cant believe your running 20's!! if youre interested in cf parts. just pm me.

I totally agree.
I love the M5 no question. But exactly what you said is true.
I dont want to be something im not.
Case in point.
My friend had a 500E Merc, which some of you might know is basically a Porsche dressed in Merc clothing. Which he supercharged.
Some guy throws an M5 kit and emblem on a 540i. (This was in 2000 so fakes were pretty rare.) And proceeds to race my friend. What a whoopin...
Anyway he sees the guy the next day and had yanked off that Lovely M5 symbol.
Just goes to show again dont try to be something your not, life and otherwise.

~$1500 just for parts alone. do a search here or on roadfly. there's something on ebay that sells the whole kit for like $1300 or $1400 but there's like a $180 shipping charge or something like that. in the end, you'll spend the same amount anyways.

Just to clear up misconceptions I keep hearing about the "M5 kit". First, there are two different ones, the M5 kit and the M kit. The difference is the rear bumper. The M5 kit has a rear valence with two openings for the dual exhaust. The M kit, has a rear valence with one opening because it came STANDARD, with the 2003 540 sport. Canadians were lucky and they received this kit STANDARD with their 2001 540 sport.
in other words, people putting these kits on are not trying be something they are not there are simply upgrading to the newer look of the 540. I guess your argument can be made for 528 and 530 owners or for people who fabricate a dual exhaust but not for 540 owners who use the standard M kit. I don't see anything wrong with me owning a 540 and upgrading it to the newer 540 look.
I notice that you have angel eyes and clear tailights but you have a pre 2001 model. Does this mean that you are trying to be something your not by also upgrading to the newer 540 look? :confused

Actually the M-Tech kit has a different front bumper opening with different grille and T-bar(M5 has not Tbar). Also one or the other (can't remember which) doesn't have brake ducts

Yes great catch, I forgot to add these differences to the list. The M kit doesn't have brake ducts but the M5 kit does.

I think you are missing my point. In my opinion, it doesn't make sense to sell a 97 540/6 and then buy a 2002 540/6. The reason why I say this is that the 97 can easy be uprgraded to look like the 2002 which is less of a hassle. I could understand if you were upgrading to the E60 or to a E39 M5 but to me it makes no sense to upgrade from a E39 540 to a newer E39 540. I do not think updating the look of your car makes you a "fake". Your car is still a 540 and you are simply giving it the updates to look like a newer 540.

That's good for you. respect to that, dagoo but yea i guess i am the youngest guy on the board now, im more hear to learn about my car then anything else. i know all you guys are full of knowledge that needs to be past on to the new generation of BMW Enthusiasts. so any 5ers planning on going to the meet this sunday, i will be driving up with my cousins ( e46 m3 silver, e36 m3 estroil, e36 m3 silver)
That's good for you. I don't know about you but when I was in high school I was too busy with girls after school to have anytime for a job. :devillook Most people in my high school didn't have cars because I live in nyc were there is an abundance of public transportation but I still had a car, a 1991 Mazda Protege, my first car. I would also borrow my father's brand new 1996 Toyota Landcruiser to impress the girls sometimes. Man I miss high school. :D
I thought I was the youngest person on the board with a 540/6. I am 22 years old and I own a 2000 540/ 6 speed that I bought cash two years ago. :alright

I thought I was one of the younger ones on the board with a 540i/6 .. I'm 23 and bought it when I was 22. I definitely get a lot of surprised reactions when I tell people that's my car. I couldn't imagine having this car when I was in High School!
