:help I'm still undecided whether to go with 18" or 19" hamann PG2s on my 540i with Sport suspension. Any advice? I like the ride I currently have with my 17s, so I don't want to go with 19's if the ride is going to be too harsh.

Get 19's. I say this because they looked PIMP on grimpy's car!!!
Either way it will look very nice.
19's make a huge difference from what I have seen on e39's.

get 19's if you can afford them.. i bought 18's bc i couldnt justify the 300/rim differenc, and the 1000bucks for tires... but every once in a while, i look and wonder how nice it would be to have 19's.. aside from the cost factor..

im selling my rims soon.. and ill prob go w/ 19's. (crossing fingers) hehe

go 19's . The ride is not bad with sport suspension. I didnt notice a difference . went from 17 to 19 wheels. If you got the cashflow 19's

20s, I just love the way they fill the wheel well on a E39 (when properly lowered)

Thanks for all your thoughts on the subject.

Say, I've got to know, what's with all the sexy photos of these women with the pants partially off associated with your signatures. Are these photos of yourselves? Hmm... non of the bimmer owners I know look that good. What gives?

If I hit a bump hard enough it will rub the back liner but other than that its good. I'm sure there's a little reduction in acceleration, but not that I noticed.

Lag in acceleration is probably more a function of the increased overall diameter, does anyone make a rear end with shorter gearing for your car? (dont know if you have auto or MT)

Speaking from experience:I went from 17" to 18" and now to 19".The wow/bling factor increases, but the pot holes seemed to get hella bigger also.

I'm not sure about the gearing.... I have a MT.

19's are the limit IMO. Anything larger and you're just asking for decreased functionality and performance AND you shell out hella more money. Keep in mind that E39s weren't engineered for a huge wheel like a 20".
If you want the bling and looks from a big wheel then get a car that wasn't meant to drive like a BMW is. Maybe an older Caddy or Impala.
Just my $.02.
