I just purchased a keyfob from bavautorecycling and need to program it to my car. Would someone post a link or run through the procedure real quick?
Thanks

I will assume you actually have the alarm system installed, and the remote you have has three buttons. If so, here is what you will need to do. (or at least what I had to do in my 1993 which I am 99% sure is the same)
First, open up your remote by removing the two small screws on the back (be careful not to strip them). There should be a chip inside, held in place by a sliding clip. Push the edges of the clip toward the chip and then up. Remove the chip.
Now find out where the alarm brain is located in your car. Mine was located under the rear seat on the drivers side. I will assume yours is the same, but mine is a different year and the touring model. Remove the small cover on the alarm brain. Inside you will find a clip exactly like the one inside the remote. Open the clip, insert the chip, close clip. There will be a small, black button inside near the chips connector. Push this button until the alarm led on the console blinks. Remove the chip, and reinstall it into your remote. Put the car back together, and you're done.

I hope you got the correct remote fob (rectangular 3-button)...because if you purchased one of those fat black rubber head keys then you've wasted your money...those are for the e39/e38/e46? with EWS keyless entry...which is not compatible with your e34's keyless entry system.
If you go to this following link: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/739005/3 you can click on the images for instructions for the BMW/Alpine keyless entry system. It basically backs up what jwanson3 wrote in his post...except it has pics that help illustrate the instructions. :D
