View Full Version : Rear window motor crying for help...?

Hey all..

So, something's wrong with my driver's rear window. The motor is having a hell of a time lifting the window up, as evidenced by it's very load groaning and slow moving. It doesn't seem to have much of a problem going down, though...

I was hoping when I got the door panel off, I'd have an obvious problem looking at me in the face, but I don't. If I push the bottom of the window up and 'help' the motor, it no longer sounds like it's tied to a cable that's pulling a car out of a ditch.

I'm going to grease the sliders as soon as I can locate some decent grease, but they don't appear broken or excessively worn..

Anyone seen this before? Is it time to locate a new regulator?

one of my rear windows are doing this also which pisses me off because i mean how many times does a rear window get opened vs. a front window which on my car don't have a problem and i make them go up and down about 20 times a day :S

as far as i know it needs a new motor, i haven't looked at mine yet so i don't know exactly how the motor works but maybe the gears are worn/damaged. but everybody i talked to told me i need a new motor

God, I know. I barely even use the rear window and it goes all shitty on me. :mad

I'd like to think it was the gears, but I'd think that would cause more skipping or.. something other than extra strain on the motor..

But I can't imagine the motor is bad, because I know (er, have no reason to not believe) the driver's door motor is original (riveted to a door with a VIN sticker on it) - and it works fine after 166,000 miles...

*sigh*
