if you check your manual it will say brake pads sensor. So as others have said, pads or sensors. Does anyone know if it has ever come on because of rotors? Ironically, mine just came on yesterday (that's how I knew the answer to your question), and my front pads and rotors are brand new. So I'm guessing rear pads or sensor. Could we get a quick tally of who needed pads versus who needed a new sensor (it's very cold in michigan [-8 this morning] to go lie on the ground and diagnose a sensor). I have that light on, too. When I change my pads, do I need to change my sensors, too? And will the light reset itself?

Yes and yes.

its not the rotors. the only way that light goes on is a.) the pad is worn so much, that the sensor in the pad is making contact with the rotor or b.) the sensor is messed up. yes you need to replace the sensor because if it is making contact with the rotor, it is basically destroyed. they are cheep anyways.

yeah, i think is the sensors, I just replace my whole rear *axsle*(spell wrong), so do i need to replace the sensor right a way? thats why when i am breaking there is a noise coming from the back. my mechanic is on vacation for 2 weeks. what happen if i dont replace it right a way?
